What is the Circumference of a Circle What is the Circumference of a Circle Today I am going to tell u about what is the what is the circumference of a circle. Before that one thing which comes is what is a circle. So the circle is simply a shape following a path with all points which have same distance from the center of the circle. In a simple mathematical manner we can say that a circle is basically a type of line. To understand circumference of the circle we need to understand the basic concepts like Center, Radius. Center is the point inside the circle and all the points on the line of circle are positioned at same distance from the center point. The radius of the circle is defined as the distance from the center of circle to any of the point on the circle. Basically it is the half of the diameter. Radius = Diameter/2 Now let us see what is the circumference of the circle. The circumference is a very special perimeter and is the distance around a circle. It is the length around it. We always need the value of the diameter of the circle to find the it’s circumference.

Diameter is a line which must pass through the center of the circle. Diameter is always equal to the double (twice) of the radius of the circle. To find the circumference of the circle we should know at least about the radius of the circle. The formula of calculating the circumference of circle is given below c = π*d Here c is circumference is the diameter, and r is the radius of the circle. The π (pie) is a constant having value 3.14. This value is needed to calculate the value of circumference. As we know that diameter of a circle is twice or double of the radius so here we have d =2.r here r represents the radius. By substituting this value in the above equation we get: C =2πr The circumference of any circle is the exact length around that circle. This length is equal to 360 degree. Let us take an example to understand the basic behind the circumference of the circle: A circular field has a radius 12 meters then its circumference will be calculated by applying the simple method below: By using the above formula circumference of the circle = π. d And d = 2r so d = 2 * 12 = 24 so the circumference becomes = π. d = (22/7) * 24 = 75.428 meters. Again let us consider an example where the diameter is given instead of the radius of the circle

Let the diameter of the circle is 14 meter then circumference of the circle become (22/7) * 14 = 44 meters. Similarly if circumference of the circle is given then following procedure is required to find radius or diameter of the circle. If Circumference = 66 then c =2Ď€r 66 = 2 x 3.14 x r r = 10.50 m So from the above examples we get to know that the circumference of a circle depends on the value of the radius or diameter of the circle.
