AB OUT : These Variations on a short theme are fun and lighthearted without sparing on technical challenge. Utilizing modal writing and a large ensemble, Variations on a Penguin is a perfect short work for your medium-advanced ensemble. FROM THE COMPOSER: Variations on a Penguin consists of five distinct sections: A theme followed by three variations and a brief reprise. Like many of my other works, the piece is programmatic in nature. However, I have opted against providing any sort of written narrative; Even the title, humorous as it may be, is derived from the tone of the piece, rather than any story. The audience should be given the opportunity to create their own narrative.​ DURATION: 5'29"
