A BOUT : Inspired by Béla Bartók and his interpretation of Eastern European folk songs, David Klock's latest work for string orchestra i s a wonderfully melodious work that leaves no section behind! Its active melodies and features for every section of the orchestra will engage any ensemble while also introducing new

inspiration to young players. FROM THE COMPOSER:

This piece for string orchestra is inspired by Bela Bartók’s prolific work with folk tunes in Eastern Europe. Its folksy rhythms and dance-like melodies are

evocative of much of the music he used as source material. Each section is

featured equally, ensuring that students will be engaged throughout rehearsals, and the structure gives students a great opportunity to practice listening for musical motifs.

The music opens with the first of two themes being played by the first violins.

This melody is passed between sections while the second theme is introduced

at letter B. Each section gets a turn playing this secondary melody until letter D,
