SOLO MARIMBA
ABOUT:

Walker Martz's achingly beautiful mallet percussion work Kind explores fourmallet technique within the simplicity of its longing harmonies and melodies, in a fully accessible format perfect for your student's next solo performance!
FROM THE COMPOSER:
Kind was written with student accessibility in mind. I wanted to write a marimba work that was able to be performed on whatever mallet instrument(s) a school might have available. As such, Kind goes no lower than the low “A” found on a standard 4.3-octave marimba, and no higher than the “F” on top of the treble clef staff. This enables the work to be performed on vibraphone or xylophone as well as marimba (with some octave transposition, of course.)
Kind is a quiet reflection on the beautiful simplicity of kindness. This piece is also a thank-you note to the friends, family, mentors, and co-workers that have taken the time to help me grow as a musician, as an educator, and as a person: my parents, my brother, Dr. Jason Kush, Dr. David Glover, Rob James, Jessica Patterson, Dr. Jonathan Helmick, John Onufrak, Serafina Vigrande, Mark Rogers, Jolynn Clouse, Brandon Tambellini, and of course, my darling Sarah.
