In house calibrations are performed in controlled laboratories to provide the safest environment for personnel and the instruments. Our Quality Program complies with the requirements of 10CFR50 Appendix B and ANSI N45.2-1971, and uses ASME NQA-1, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, and other accepted industry practices as guidance. In addition, all calibrations are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through standards maintained by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or other internationally recognized National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) that are signatories to the International Committee for Weights and Measures Mutual Recognition Agreement (CIPM MRA) or natural physical constants.

CLS’ Eddy Current testing group can inspect a wide range of components and material types by utilizing a variety of qualified inspection techniques.

We utilize the CoreStar Eddy Vision System, recognized as a leader in the Balance of Plant inspection system for heat exchangers. We also work closely with CoreStar and EPRI NDE Center to stay current with state-of-the art Eddy Current technology, equipment, and software. When it is time for an Eddy Current inspection for heat exchanger tubing, turbine blades, or weld location on piping, you will find the expertise needed at CLS’s ISO Eddy Current group.

CLS’ Radiography testing group can inspect a wide range of components and material types by utilizing a variety of qualified inspection techniques. Our staff is comprised of a team of highly skilled, cross certified, radiography technicians have the knowledge and capability to apply the appropriate radiographic equipment and techniques to obtain optimum and accurate exam results. The group’s radiography capabilities range from isotope radiography to electrical X-Ray, conventional radiographic film and state-of-the-art computed radiography “CR”, utilizing phosphor imaging plates.

Our group maintains a highly skilled and experienced staff to provide services to TVA’s generating fleet. The ISI group maintains the capability for magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, visual inspection, and ultrasonic inspection. CLS’ Ultrasonic testing group is comprised of multi-certified technicians, maintaining certifications to meet volumetric and surface NDE demands, including ASME Section XI – Appendix VIII, SNT-TC-1A, CP-189 requirements, and Certified Weld Inspection.
