RESILIENT MANGROVE COMMUNITY PROJECT INFOMATION Address

Long Thanh commune, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh city

Area

96.2 hectare

Project team

Ta Van Nhi Nguyen Le Hoang Vu Pham Khoa Nguyen Pham Duy Lam Thien Ba

EXISTING & INITIAL BRIEF The Vingroup sea reclaimation project suppose 2870 hectares will be earmarked for an artificial beach, luxury villas, entertainment areas, parks and shopping mall at Can Gio seashore. Nonetheless, Can Gio is a rural zone with sparsely settled lands morphology. So it becomes almost an invisible barrier preventing fishermen from their work, not to mention its impact on the environment and urban morphology. Our researching project proposes to deal with the transformation by becoming a buffer zone to connect the new urban area - Vingroup sea reclamation project - with the rest of Can Gio district. In additionally, we focuse on solving the disadvantages of urbanization, such as climate change, migration... base on traditional value and predicted natural phenomenon.

TIME A UPON ONCE

BUT, WHAT IS THE SUSTAINABLE STATE? WHAT IS THE LIVEABLE MOMENT?

PRINCIPLES & GOALS 1. Create the opposition urban form with Vin's project to avoid the impact of the land reclamation. Suggest a new function based on available land funds. 2. Get culture into core values. The balance between new job opportunities and existing job performance. 3. Cut and fill creates waterway traffic throughout and overcomes water pollution. 4. Suggest research center to helps to attract investment, increase economic efficiency, educate people and diversify the urban form. 5. Hoa Binh, which used to be the first center, is an important structure "backbone" of Da Lat's heritage chain. Having inspiration from Ho Thieu Tri’s project, my final undergraduate project is another solution of development and inheritance. At once, using urban design language to bring indigenous, history, and era value. In the other words, development is based on balancing three elements: economy, society, and environment.

RIVER TOUCH 1ST PRIZE COMPETITION PROJECT INFOMATION Address

Rach Chiec canal, district 9, Ho Chi Minh city

Area

3.157 hectare

Project team

Ta Van Nhi Pham Ngoc Linh Tran Thi Thanh Truc Pham Nguyen Trong Nhan Phan Dinh Trung

Rach Chiec is a small tributary of the Saigon River. Previously, it was the venue witnessed Ho Chi Minh campaign history. Today, Rach Chiec is newly built to help promote the economy in the East of the city and connect Ho Chi Minh City with the Southeast, Central and Northern region of Vietnam. According to the orientation, the eastern economic region is directed to become an innovative urban area in the future.

Originally, people settled in the area along waterfront. According to the historical process and economic development, people gradually lose connection with nature in general and waterfront in particular. Since then, slowly losing its social connections, because public space is part of an exchange opportunity. To create a creative community, it is necessary to first create a connection in public space, in other words, create an environment that promotes creativity, interdisciplinary exchange, thereby regaining the connection of people to people and people to space.

DESIGN METHODS: 1. Context - perception - knowledge: Creative urban contexts need spaces that encourage the circulation of ideas; take advantage of resources and potentials from the urban area of VNU National University and the High-Tech Park. 2. Aims - priorities: The project focuses on restoring the old role of the river in people's lives, prioritizing promoting people out of the works to live and exchange information.

A. PORT SQUARE

B.CREATIVE PARK

C. ECO PARK

3. Opportunities - Challenges: Creative cities offer great opportunities for updating and approaching technology, but it also creates spatial and natural challenges.

Building a continuous green network including a system of parks, squares, pedestrian corridors, etc... to restore ecological functions on both sides of the river. Design of self-cooling line system capable of permeating water. Apply a double-layer dike model that combines landscape and advanced technologies to encourage residents to go out. The ecological corridor plays the role of filtering and retaining water, local trees along the shore also have the ability to hold the soil - soft embankment.

TOUCH IN LOCAL VALUES

R E - C A L L Create a space to store - behold - accompany residents' lives and memories

The desire to create a building block that is in harmony with the natural landscape, creating the feeling that the access surface is only 1 floor high, actually 2-2.5 floors hidden in the cliff, blending into nature. In order to natural landscape blending, concrete is considered the main material tone, accented with stones that make the view from the bottom up also have natural colors.
