Steps to Creating an Electronic Portfolio 1. Download the appropriate portfolio package from http://www.aea11.k12.ia.us/tech/portfolios 2. Rename the folder from TeacherPortfolio to another name; i.e. JonesPortfolio 3. Start identifying artifacts and place them in the artifact folder. The file name of the artifact is important. The artifact may be the geometry lesson plan, but the file name would be something like geometrylesson.doc or geometrylesson.pdf 4. Identify and assign the standards and criteria for each artifact. Use the Artifact Matrix Planning sheet by listing the artifacts and placing the letter of criteria under each standard by the artifact name. 5. Open and complete the reflection.html page. (This is a template – and must be saved as “save as”.) “Save As” the completed reflection page by: • Properly renaming the file name; i.e. geomreflection.html and • Saving the file in the corresponding standards reflections folder. 6. On the reflection page (geomreflection.html) link the artifact title to the actual artifact located in the artifacts folder. Remember to save your changes. 7. Complete a new reflection page for each standard the artifact addresses. 8. Open the standards matrix, then link the Xs by the artifact name (under each standard) to the reflection page written for that particular standard. 9. Also, in the matrix, link the artifact title to the artifact in the artifacts folder. 10. Open each of the Standards main pages • List each reflection title created for the appropriate standard. • Below each reflection title list the criteria the reflection is addressing. • Link each reflection title to the actual reflection page it is referencing.
Electronic Portfolio Files
There will be four links created for each reflection written: (see accompanying pages) 1. On the reflection page – link the artifact title to the artifact. (Artifact is to be placed in the artifacts folder first.) 2. On the standards matrix page – link the corresponding Xs to the reflections they are identifying. 3. On the standards matrix page – link the artifact title to the artifact located in the artifact file. 4. On each of the standards’ main pages – link the titles of the reflections to the corresponding reflections.
Creating Links in Composer 1. Select (highlight) the text and/or image you wish to become the link. 2. Click on the “link” icon in Composer’s toolbar. 3. Select “Choose File” and navigate to the document to which you are linking. The path for the link will show in this window. 4. Then click “OK.”
5. The selected text will turn blue and underlined in blue. If it is an image, the image will have a blue box around it.

Creating a Refection Page 1. Within Composer, open the file “reflection.html” located in the portfolio package.
4. Link the title of your artifact to the actual artifact in the artifacts folder. * Do not link an artifact until the artifact has been placed in the artifact folder.
2. Complete the information on the artifact reflection page, including the detailed reflection. (What, So What, Now What) 3. Use “save as” to save the reflection. Location: • Save the reflection within the corresponding reflections folder. File Name: • The file name for the reflection page should be meaningful, but short, no spaces, and no punctuation.
The Matrix Page
On the matrix page, link the artifact titles to the actual artifacts within the artifacts folder.
On the standards matrix page, link the corresponding Xs to the reflections they are identifying within the corresponding reflections folder.
Example above: The artifact “Art Collector Lesson Plan� addresses Standards 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Each of the 5 artifact refection pages (5 different standards) will be written somewhat differently depending on the standard being addressed.
The Standards Pages
On each of the standards’ main pages – type the title of each reflection written for that standard and link the title to the actual reflection. The link connects the title of the artifact reflection that is stored within the reflections folder.
