It goes without saying that 10,000 walkers have their effect on the environment but we continue our efforts to reduce waste by making our participants aware of their responsibilities towards the environment. We also want to emphasize that public transport is the best way to come to Blankenberge and our market square where the start and finish of our walk are located. Our 6km walk remains a perfect stroll for many children or young families. The many bouncy castles make it a pleasant walk for young and old. Each year we try to alter our tracks where possible. This year too there will be some minor modifications and the animation programme has had some changes. Plenty of reasons to come to Blankenberge once more this year. We are looking forward to meeting you.
When blossoms come to life, you can be sure the Two-Day Walk is not far away. For over 40 years now, the first weekend of May has been the scenery of our annual walking festival. Walkers from all over the world gather in Blankenberge to start the tourist season. Never change a winning team and therefore our tracks will lead you once more along our coastline, through the dunes, the polders and many charming villages. This year Vlissegem was selected as the theme village for our badge and medal. Maybe less known but certainly as beautiful as Lissewege or Zuienkerke.

You can choose how to register. Without a doubt, the most easy way is through our website www.2daagse.be. Here you will find all instructions on how to register and how to pay. This way you avoid long queues on the market square. If you do not have the possibility to register online, you can register at the Tourist Office of Blankenberge. Participants who wish to register on the spot can do so at the registration desk in the tent on the market square.

The registration fee depends on the distance you walk and when you register. Members of a Belgian walking association or youth movement can enjoy special discounts.
In advance Via the Tourist Office of Blankenberge - VVV This is possible starting 1 March 2012. To do so you have to go to the Tourist Office which is located in front of the railway station. Registration via the tourist office is possible till the day before the walk, being 4 May. That day the Tourist Office will exceptionally be open until 7.45 pm.

In advance Via www.2daagse.be We recommend registration online. You can fill out your data and finish your registration by making the bank transfer. This way you are sure that the transaction has been done without any margin for error. It is also cheaper when you register in advance and you can avoid queues before starting your walk. This gives you more time to enjoy the track and Blankenberge’s beautiful surroundings.

During the weekend of the Two-Day Walk, registration is only possible in the tent on the market square. There are specific desks for those that were unable to register in advance.

Our guests: Borås sweden It would be too obvious to refer to the giant furniture store or several car brands to describe this Scandinavian country. The vast nature, the endless forests and more than 1000 lakes are a more fitting description. The country has many natural resources making it the welfare state it is. Along with some other Northern European countries, Sweden yearly ranks in the top 10 of most developed countries in the world.
Environmental tips
Its Southwest is, next to Stockholm, Sweden’s most prosperous area. This is where Borås, the home town of the Linnémarschen is located. Here the proof lives that prosperity and nature can go hand in hand. Here, prosperity is the result of nature and trade. Borås was founded at the crossing of the 2 most important railway tracks of Sweden where natural resources were found. These natural resources still are the main assets of the region and of the Linnémarschen. The walk leads you through the endless forests (and through the zoo of Borås!) and the hilly country offers a splendid view at the surroundings. Carl Von Linné, a famous Swedish botanist, after whom the walk was named, characterised this region as the Alps of West-Gothland. Borås’s early development is also the reason why you can still find many historical buildings there.
- If you bring along your packed lunch, make use of a lunch box; - Avoid the use of one-way packaging as much as possible; - Never throw tin cans, cups or other waste onto the ground, thus avoiding roaming rubbish and showing respect for our precious polder and nature; - Make use of the available waste containers, even if it means you have to walk an extra 10 meters; - Sort out your disposable material correctly: choose the right container on the ‘waste islands’; - Take only those promotion folders which are of interest to you.
Although you may miss out on the high mountain tops of the Alps here, you will certainly find beautiful landscapes and walking pleasure. The Linnémarschen takes place during the last weekend of April, when Swedish nature is at its best. Moreover it is the ideal workout for our Two-Day Walk. Accommodations2012 The Two-Day Walk is a true event ! The Two-Day Walk has always tried to be a genuine walking festival. Of course, the sports activity has always been the main focus of the event, but what once began as a mere recreational activity is now a true event. A feast for all participants. People still come to walk but our event has outgrown the ordinary stroll in the park. There are bouncy castles for our younger participants, there is elaborate sampling for everyone and the music bands keep the atmosphere very much alive. The participants can choose between 4 tracks.
Saturday 5 May 2012 Area southwest of Blankenberge. Depending on the chosen distance you will walk through the villages of Wenduine, De Haan, Vlissegem, Houtave, Meetkerke, Nieuwmunster, Zuienkerke and Uitkerke. Radio 2 family walk ± 6 km, with group start at 10 a.m. Animation walk ± 15 km, with group start at 10 a.m.
Sporty nature walk ± 24 km, with group start at 10 a.m. Long distance walk ± 42 km, with group start at 8 a.m.
Sunday 6 May 2012 Depending on the chosen track, the walkers will go through the towns of Zeebrugge, Lissewege, Dudzele, Heist, Ramskapelle and Uitkerke, or the area southeast of Blankenberge.
