The ‘stage capitals’ Lissewege and Zuienkerke are traditionally full of atmosphere. Still, this year we choose toput Ramskapelle in the spotlights. Being part of the long-distance walk for only the second time, the scenic village near the port of Zeebrugge will also be shown on the souvenir medal and badge.
Another asset of the Two-Day Walk is the international atmosphere, which will be there more than ever. The 25th anniversary of the IML Walking Association cannot go unnoticed.

The weekend of 4 and 5 May will thus bring you a colourful flag parade from all over the world. After the first day of our event, all participating walkers will receive a nice souvenir celebrating 25 years of IML in Blankenberge.
The IML was founded in Tokyo and the Blankenberge Two-Day Walk was a part of it right from the start. The silver jubilee is the ideal occasion to tighten friendship with the partners that were there at the start, being Bern, Castlebar, Diekirch, Higashimatsuyama, Modlin, Nijmegen and Viborg. They will be our guests of honour. Still, it goes without saying that our other partner walks will be welcomed with open arms too. This edition will thus also be a chance to meet our friends from Arenzano, Arlington, Barcelona, Canberra, Chantonnay, Dalian, Fulda, Rotorua, Stiklestadt, Taipei, Vaasa, Vancouver, Victoria, Wellingborough and Won-Ju again.
On 4 and 5 May, it is on again. The key values of the Two-Day Walk will remain the same, for this edition too. Walkers will get a very diverse track at their feet. Over the beach, through the dunes and polders. And of course, there will be time for relaxing too: a stop in one of the many charming villages with their vintage cafés. And at the end of the walk, everyone is entitled to a souvenir medal and tasty local fish from the North Sea.
what if...? you have a family with young children? Then we can only recommend the six-kilometre track. Bouncy castles galore and a genuine children’s village will make the kilometres fly by unnoticed. And maybe there will even be some time to take part in a workshop on life in the North Sea...

Through the website www.2daagse.be, the two-day walking tradition is only a click away. Apart from being the cheapest way, registration through the website is also the most comfortable one. You do not have to queue up before the start and upon arriving in Blankenberge, you can start your walk, the main reason for your presence, without losing much time. Fill out your data, you do not even have to leave your sofa to settle the payment. It does not take more than that.
the members of your youth group want to combine the walk with a swim in the sea, relaxing on the beach or climbing a tree to enjoy the view? Then the 15-km walk will be most suitable to you... you are looking for surplus value and want to enjoy all assets of the coastal area and its hinterland? You may choose the 24-km classic walk then... you want to explore your boundaries or you want to practise for some long-distance challenge later this year? The 42-km track will be your thing...
In the marquee, you can taste Blankenberge’s regional beer the ‘Blankenbergse Kokketeute’, brewed in Ertvelde by the Van Steenberge brewery and launched on 6 July 2012. Kokketeute is a smooth blonde beer of high fermentation with delicious hints of malt, hops and citrus, with refermentation in the bottle and an exact alcoholic strength of 7.2%. ‘kokketeute’ is a typical Blankenberge dialect word for a beautiful and smartly dressed girl.
If you still prefer the human touch, who are we to blame you? You can also register in the Blankenberge Tourism Office. There, you can register until 7:30 p.m. on Friday night 3 May.
on-the-spot registration People that do not have the possibility to register online still have the possibility to register in the tent on the market square (Grote Markt). Registration fee will depend on the chosen distance and the way of registration. Members of a Belgian walking association and youth groups will get a discount of €1.00 when participating two days or €0.50 when participating one day. In short, each walker will find his favourite distance in Blankenberge.
Registration includes participation, description of the tracks, souvenir medal (when participating two days), badge, insurance, care and sampling.

We prefer to show you the beautiful ‘green’ surroundings of Blankenberge and want to continue to do so in the future. We are highly committed to environmental care. Last year, our environmental conservation efforts were valued as we were declared Flanders’ most ecological sports event again.
In this circuit of 10 walks in 10 different locations, you are challenged as a walker to complete a certain distance within a fixed time span. You define the distance you wish to walk in advance (short – 25 km or long + 35 km), whereby you also define the category in which you want to be put and thus the walking speed needed to complete the walk. If you succeed, you will get a stamp in your booklet. After 6, 8 and 10 completed walks, you will receive a valuable reward. For this extra option, an extra € 2 will be required on top of the participation fee of the walk. The results will be electronically processed and can be followed on www.startracking.be. You can find more information about this option on www.sportiefwandelen.be (in Dutch).
• If you bring along your packed lunch, make use of a lunch box; • Avoid the use of one-way packaging as much as possible; • Never throw tin cans, cups or other waste onto the ground, thus avoiding roaming rubbish and showing respect for our precious polder and nature; • Make use of the available waste containers, even if it means you have to walk an extra 10 meters; • Sort out your disposable material correctly: choose the right container on the ‘waste islands’; • Take only those promotion folders which are of interest to you.
Even though almost 10,000 walkers are present each year, we try to minimise pressure on the environment. All of this is only possible with your cooperation!

Park De Craene in Uitkerke, in front of the church, will change into a real fun village for two days! ‘De Voetjes’ (the small feet) refer to the Two-Day Walk logo, a recognizable symbol, even to small children. This entertainment for the young ones is made possible thanks to a cooperation with De Bond and the chain of toy stores FUN. All distances will pass through ‘De Voetjes’ and activities are open to the young and the less young.
