The guitar majesty provided by Griffin, sends this tune into a zone of its own. He has played with such luminaries as: The Isley Brothers, Chaka Khan, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men to name a few and was the leader of the Seventies funk band Manchild that hailed from Indianapolis. After leaving Manchild, Griffin also had a charting hit in the Eighties called “Mirda Rock” (by Reggie Griffin and Technofunk). Bo Watson, has been one of the lead singers in Midnight Star since the group’s inception in the early Eighties. He is the voice on “Midas Touch”, “Wet My Whistle” and one of the most endearing ballads of all-time “Slow Jam” (from Midnight Star’s multi-platinum NO PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR album). In addition to playing keyboards on “Slow Song”, he lends his voice to a climatic raise near the song’s end that will give you goose bumps. In addition to being in Midnight Star, Watson has worked with Babyface, Toni Braxton, The Whispers, Bobby Brown, The Deele, Shanice and many more as a songwriter, session player and producer. The following is an excerp from our interview with Felonious Munk.
THE THIRST!!!!! Yes, cats have sex continuously on the brain. I get that. But fam, we no longer have any level of concern for quality. It’s ALL quantity. Women being objectified, not new. But the blatant and aggressive way we go at women.. that’s recent. If I see an attractive woman I can’t even compliment her anymore because dudes have overdosed on “Damn you are beautiful shorty. I’ll drink your bath water.” etc. Come on fam...it’s not that serious. It’s not just men either. Women need to sip something too. Felonious Munk is a talented comedian who is known for his “Stop It B!” videos on Youtube. To read the whole interview, log on to www.twenty4sevenmagazine.com. Q&A By: Tyrone Davis Who is Ric Jilla? I’m a Midwest Indiana rap pioneer. I’ve been around for many moons, puttin it down in these streets trying to bring this Midwest Music shit to the forefront of the world. I first heard about you on “Southwestconnection.com” in 2004. How was business then? 2004 was the best year of my life. My single “On the What” was out and I was doing it big! You now reside in Indianapolis. What is the difference between the music scene there vs. Gary, Indiana? Well, I’m now in Atlanta, but I’ve always been a part of the Indy and Gary scene. The Indy scene is more inspiring because they are very supportive and they embrace and appreciate real music. Gary seems to have a city full of artists, which leaves very little room for fans…. What has been the biggest obstacle in your career thus far? Ummm…overall…myself. But, I feel like maybe if I would have been able to do what I’ve been doing in a more prominent location where the larger labels are that I would be up there with some of the best. So now I’m in the “A” and I’m networking with the powers that be & im finna take this shit to another level. What inspires you, both musically and in life? Energy. Energy can make or break a person. I can be around some of the best, but if the energy isn’t right then I will bounce. Energy has allowed me to be a great musician and father. I always aspire to be a better person, a better artist, and a better man. I live for the day to show my home town that with hard work, positive energy and persistence that anything can happen. It is possible. I’m going to throw a few names out there. Say whatever comes to mind. a. Will Scrill – Message Deleted b. Freddie Gibbs – Str8 Slammin. Congrats….You did it bro! c. The Legion Records – Worst Mistake of my career
The following is an excerp from our interview with Marlo Wright.
I am NOT a licensed anything, I don’t want to be. I have been life coaching people for the past six years, to live healthier, happier lives. I speak from personal experiences/testimonies, and those shared with me from close friends, and family. People need to hear that others have gone through similar situations, they aren’t alone, and they too can overcome and live the best life possible, in spite of. The truth is, everyone has gone through something. Unfortunately, some things aren’t the best situations, but at the end of the day, you have a decision to make... either continue living in victim mentality, or move forward, forgive, and use the negative to make you stronger! Marlo Wright is the author of “Suck A D*@k. Save A Marriage”. To read the whole interview, log on to www.twenty4sevenmagazine. com. Check her out at www.itsmarlowright.com TWENTY4SEVEN MAGAZINE

Explain the name “The Pride of Indiana”. Well…when I say that…first and foremost I have a great pride for Indiana. I have always repped’ my state like no one else has ever done. Not just my city, my block, but the entire state…and that’s why somebody like myself can be considered a part of the Indy rap scene…a part for the Gary rap scene and I’m not even from either one of those places. I’m from Hammond, Indiana and I represent the whole state…You can’t turn a corner in the whole state and not run into a nigga that supposed to be a street nigga or a real nigga and they not know Ric Jilla. Do you believe Indiana will ever get a chance to shine on a major scale? Yeah. I think Indiana is on the way and I think the Midwest is on it’s way to be the next major music hub. The moves that Freddie Gibbs, Munki Boi, Mutt & Jeff, myself & others are making shows that Indiana can and will cross that threshold. If we can get out of our own way we’ll be alright. Stop being intimidated by the next man and join forces. Everything will be all good. How do you feel about the Industry today and who are your top 5 rappers? Well….I think a lot of the music today lacks integrity. A lot of artists are doing and saying whatever they think will sell. In my opinion there are only a few artists out there that really stand for what they put on their tracks. I think the game has gone digital and the internet is blurring people’s perception of reality… what’s good, what’s not good, what’s hot and what’s not hot. I like that fact the people are getting money… I’m not hating on another person eating, but I think hooks and tracks run the industry and the lyrics today are more watered down than they’ve ever been. It’s like a misrepresentation of hip hop! My top 5 are Tupac, Jay Z, Cube/Easy E, Kanye West, Andre 3000 Tell us something about you that most don’t know. I’m a very spiritual person and I pray before all my shows and songs, no matter what the lyrics entail… How can people reach you if they want to do business and what’s next for Ric Jilla? Twitter, Facebook, MySpace. All is /Ric Jilla or @ Ric Jilla. My website is RicJillaonline.com. My email is RicJillamusic@yahoo.com. Up next is success. The Sky’s the Limit!!! Keep your eyes peeled & ears open because aint no telling what I might do next. Stay tuned. TWENTY4SEVEN MAGAZINE

St. Louis is on deck. Indianapolis is on deck. Check out our interview with Richie Stacks & DJ JTorcher. Both are making major moves and are showing that you don’t have to be from the same city to work together.
With everyone trying be an artist or DJ, how have you stayed a head of the game? By having strong work ethnic and good relationships. Being a real DJ that had to carry crates & by not having to undercut other DJs.
How long have you been in the business and when would you say it started making a turn in the right direction for you? I’ve been in the business well over a decade. The business has had its ups and downs, but in the last couple years things have been moving in an upright motion.
Do you feel artists of today have what it takes for longevity? No, they’re too busy trying to step on each other’s toes and get the quick money instead of money in the long run.
You have had quite a few singles out. Which one has been the most successful thus far? So far, “Its own” is my biggest single. It has been on several “Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes”. I would say it has been on over 80 mixtapes. What is the name of your new single? Right now I have a single called “Richie Stack Money” that we are currently pushing. You recently dropped a new mixtape with DJ JTorcher from Indianapolis. How did that come about? My dude Jesse James from Midwestmixtapes.com hooked us up when we came to Naptown during the black expo last year. He hooked me up with Jtorcher and Its been on since. What can we expect from this mix? You can expect a lot of Midwest luv from this one. I have features from some of Naptown’s finest. This will be a good look for St.louis and Naptown. Explain your writing process. What inspires you to create? My writing process is sometimes spur of the moment. Sometimes, its a little more thought out. I’m inspired by tight beats. What do you think about the state of Hip-Hop and how much longer do you think it will last? I think Hip Hop is always reinventing itself. Technology has made it a little easier and at the same time, a little more difficult. I think Hip Hop will last forever. It is a part of our culture that can’t be erased. If you could only listen to one cd for the rest of your life, which would it be? Richie Stacks “Rags to Richie’s”, Lol Contact info? Richiestacks.com or you can contact me at richiestacks@gmail.com

Your name is really starting to buzz in the streets. What is the secret to your success? Networking and building positive relationships.
Coming out of St. Louis, you’ve created a buzz for yourself. For those who don’t know, who are you? My name is Richie Stacks and I am one half of the group, “Hard Knox”.
St. Louis has had a lot of artists with success. What will you bring to the game? I’m bringing that street party music to the game. Music that people will wake up to and start their daily grind. Motivational, inspiring street music.

DJ JTorcher, Its been awhile since our last interview. You were on the cover of our 3rd issue. What has been going on since then? I’ve been grinding. I recently won the “Midwest Legions” Award at the Nerve DJ Conference. I’ve done various new mixtapes and I’ve worked with many artists from the Midwest to the South. I’ve also gotten “Heatspinner Radio” up and booming.
Any last words? My mixtape, “Rags to Richie’s” is available at go get it at midwestmixtapes.com
What do you feel is the biggest downfall in the entertainment business today and what do you think is needed to change things around? There are too many snakes that are trying to take people’s money and not return the proper service. I think there needs to be more unity and respect for each other’s craft and people need to stay in their own lane. What is the name of your DJ Coalition? The “Heatspinner DJs”. We work as a unit to actually break records in the different markets. , to work as a unit and break records in the different markets. Do you feel that “Breaking Records” is the main goals of these new DJ coalitions? As of right now, no. I don’t think a lot of them focus on breaking records at all. Like I said before, people are just out to get your money. Heatspinner DJs BREAK RECORDS! Who are some of the artists that you feel are the next to blow and what does it take for you to get behind an artist? Richie Stacks, Amp Teez, Yung Trae, Louch, & Dwani. I get behind artists that are dedicated to their craft, who are open to suggestions, and who are versitile. How did the mix tape with Richie Stacks come about and what can we expect from it? Through midwestmixtapes.com’s owner DJ Jesse James. He’s a Heatspinner DJ as well and gave me the music. I was feeling it so it was on. You can expect the original Midwest Style of mixtape. In closing, what does the future hold for you? I plan to be one of the biggest DJs in the Midwest and I’m going to break A LOT of records. Contact info? Twitter: @jtorcher, facebook.com/jtorcher or 317-5013792. Get at me for your exclusive mix and tne in to Heatspinner Radio at www.heatspinnerdjs.com.

"AND THE TRAIN KEEPS A ROLLIN" Words By: Sid “Uncle Jamz” Johnson In the world of rock & roll, the term, ‘the train kept a rollin’ is synonymous with hit records by Sixties rock group The Yardbirds (later covered by Aerosmith) – in the world of rap/hip-hop, it is the catch phrase that sums up the constantly moving transportation like journey of Albany, Georgia’s Dirty South Entertainment. This train has made major impacts in various sections of the USA with its roster of acts: Big Nod, Ole-E and its recently added talents of Hustle Vizion Muzic’s Loui B, Bankroll and Akeem Hines. In the Spring Ole-E went on a promotional tour that hit such cities as: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Louisville and St. Louis promoting his single with live performance, radio interviews and tv appearances. In December of last year, Ole-E placed first in the industry showcase of Coast 2 Coast in Miami with the performance of his single “I Bet She’s Freaky” (featuring Indianapolis’ own Zay). Big Nod placed second with his single “Top Model”. The label has since created a buzz at the Atlanta Record Pool Conference; the CORE DJS retreat in Miami; and Black Bike Weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Both singles have received airplay on cable’s Music Choice plus several radio stations across America. Currently represented in the market place with albums by Big Nod (GRIND MODE) and OleE (UP MY WAGER), both available on iTunes and Amazon, and the newly released DIRTY HUSTLE VOL. 1 Mix tape by DJ Drizzle of the Hitmenn, the label is going all out over the next few months with new releases by all of the afore-mentioned acts, plus a few new signees.
