WEBSITE AND FEEDBACK

www.twopeardesigns.com | inspire@twopeardesigns.com

A Note from Holly Another year has come and gone. This is a big year for me. I turn 40. I’m not really one that worries too much about age. But, I do find that as I get older, time flies faster. I just want to hold on to it as long as I can. Spending time with my family is so important to me. With a new year, it’s time for new goals and dreams. It’s like our slate has been wiped clean again. Which makes for the perfect time to do something new at Two Pear Designs. Like introducing you to our first issue of Inspire.

Carrie and I wanted to find another way to reach our audience. Sure, we could continue to send you a newsletter here and there. Or, we could just keep everything on Facebook. But, you’re better than that. You mean a lot to us. Giving back with an Online magazine just felt right. Now, every other month, you can get Inspire for free when you make a purchase in our store. Don’t worry, you can buy it outright if you choose. I hope you enjoy it, and I welcome your messages on what you’d like to see included next. Email me at inspire@twopeardesigns.com. Happy New Year!

READ US ON THE GO! Importing this PDF file into your e-reader is simple! It’s not an ePub or Mobi format like the Online books you purchase. E-readers like iPad and Kindle have access to apps such as Adobe Acrobat and GoodReader that will let you import a PDF file to read. You can also import PDF files to iBooks on your Apple devices. If you’ve purchased this via your iPad or Kindle you should be able to open it on that device. If not, one way to transfer the file would be to email it to yourself. However, that file might be too big for email. So, here is an easy way to transfer the file to your e-reader from your computer: • Get yourself a free DropBox.com account. It’s a cloud service. • Once you download the DropBox folder to your computer, place the file inside it. • Download the DropBox app to your device. • Sign in to your DropBox account on your e-reader; it will sync the files to your device. • You can view PDFs within DropBox, or you can choose to open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader. It’s pretty straight-forward and common these days to read documents via our e-reader devices.

The handmade touches finish them off, and are sure to inspire you with your own business packaging. words Holly McCaig | photography Carrie Bombria Carrying your brand across in a consistent manner can be daunting for photographers. The thing to remember is that it should represent who you are, and your personality. While looking through Carrie’s pretty packaging, you can see pieces of her crafty personality and her photography style. Carrie focuses on a handmade effort with her salt dough ornament included in every wedding package she sends out to clients. That loving touch is a fun way to stand out as a boutique studio. Alice Keeney

“So many times we wonder how people started in photography. For some it comes from the birth of a child. Others might have come across an antique in their grandma’s closet. For Alice it started in high school.” words Monica Day | photography Alice Keeney

This first issue of Inspire is a beginning to something amazing. It’s a beginning of amazing people in this wonderful industry. It’s about showcasing talent and sharing knowledge. We’re here to encourage each other and learn how to be awesome photographers. When we talked about what this magazine would be I became so encouraged. I thought of all the hard work it took to be where I am today. I thought about the people that made this possible and those that I learned from. I immediately thought of the photographer that this article is about. When I got serious about photography and learning the technical aspects of it I started to take classes at the Charleston Center for Photography in Charleston, SC. That is where I met Alice Keeney. Alice was an instructor there and taught every class I attended at CCP. Alice’s vast knowledge and cool spirit made it so easy to learn from her. I have always been in awe of her images. She has a classic style that reaches to the depths of her subjects. Alice is truly amazing. Features Editor, Monica Day shares her experience in learning from photographer, Alice Keeney through the Charleston Center for Photography.

So many times we wonder how people started in photography. For some it comes from the birth of a child. Others might have come across an antique in their grandma’s closet. For Alice it started in high school. She received her first SLR as a young teenager. Her mother got her an old Minolta for Christmas. Alice shared her love of photography with her father who was always taking pictures at

her soccer games. When he passed away, Alice found comfort in the darkroom. What better way for this 16-year old Alice to deal with such a hard time in her life? The darkroom that she and her older brother built became the escape that she needed. Alice explained to me why the darkroom was so special to her. “I loved the smell of the chemicals, the red glow of the room, and the sound of the timer ticking away.” Alice later went on to mentor with Kristin Street, a photography teacher at Moses Brown in Providence, RI. After college, Alice attended Spéos Photographic Institute in Paris. Yes…Paris!! The College of Charleston graduate that majored in English with plans to go to law school applied to photography school in Paris…on a whim!! Talk about a life changer. I will say that Alice made an amazing choice. Spéos was actually a suggestion from her mother so what else could she do? So Alice attended photography school in Paris speaking zero French and knowing no one around. Paris or photography was going to be great. Luckily…both were pretty awesome. I asked Alice what Europe was like. Of course she said, “Europe was everything I dreamed it would be...an impossibly small studio apartment with rooftop access and a view of the rooftops of Paris, fresh baguettes that you can’t wait to eat until you ▶

▶ get home so you grab a chunk from the top, street

side cafes, student protests, the Metro, wandering aimlessly through the most adorable neighborhoods you could ever imagine, and beautiful light peeking around every corner…it was a dream!” I can only imagine what a dream it was. Alice is now a successful wedding and portrait photographer in Charleston, SC. She also works with the Associated Press. She has photographed some amazing people with the Associated Press including Venus and Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and even President Obama. Alice teaches photography classes at the Charleston Center for Photography and she also volunteers with Grassroot Soccer. Grassroot Soccer is an organization founded in Zimbabwe that uses soccer to stop the spread of HIV. As if she has time for anything else, Alice is also a spin instructor at Charleston RIDE. I asked Alice how

14  January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com

she possibly has time to teach spinning on top of everything else she does. Her response was, “I love riding bikes around Charleston with my husband and friends. It is a slower pace that helps you slow down and lose track of time for a minute. I could sit in one of Charleston’s many courtyard coffee spots and read a magazine for hours. I enjoy a day with no plan but a path to be found...and good food to be eaten!” What better way to release from life than to do what makes you happy! The thing that really stands out to me about Alice is her clean style. She is a photographer without all the gimmicks. Her photos speak for themselves. She does very little editing and her images are beautiful nonetheless. Her education in Paris has definitely laid a solid groundwork of the fundamentals of amazing photography. Alice loves the work of photographers such as Jose Villa, Tec Petaja, Henri

Cartier Bresson, Eugene Richards, Sally Mann, Christopher Anderson, and Sebastio Salgado. She also gets inspiration from the work in newspapers and other photojournalists. Alice’s intention as a photographer was to be a photojournalist. Her photo-journalistic style can be seen in so many parts of her portfolio. Even her wedding photography and the details she captures lend to a photo-journalistic feel. She actually got into wedding photography when a college friend asked her to shoot her wedding. While she made it through that first wedding, she realized that she needed more experience. She started shooting with an experienced wedding photographer to learn the ins and outs of the wedding photography business. Alice says that was a critical step in her development as a wedding photographer. ▶

monicadayphotography.com facebook.com/monicadayphoto

Alice has also helped on some celebrity weddings so you know she has seen some amazing weddings! She’s photographed at some amazing venues including the Round Hill Resort in Jamaica, some vineyards in California, an old train depot in Idaho and of course many of the fabulous locations in and around Charleston, SC. It would only be natural that each of those weddings influenced her own wedding in one way or another. Alice told me, “The best piece of advice I could give to a couple would be to pick peoples’ work who you love and then trust them to do a beautiful job with your day!” That’s some smart thinking! Alice has so much to give this photography world. Her beautiful images evoke emotion and her photo-journalistic style tells the story of her subjects. She captures the essence of the moment with her approach to photography and her intent to journal what she sees in her images. Alice has been an influence of mine and I know that she will be an inspiration to so many others. I asked Alice for the one piece of advice she’d give to a new photographer. She said, “Don’t sell yourself short. Believe in the work you are creating and that it is valuable. Go wholly with your head and your heart, and don’t be afraid of working HARD. And get an accountant or a business degree!” I love her practicality! Now get photographing and make sure you have an awesome accountant.

What do you do when your newly engaged couple wants a session in the snow, but your winter is very mild? You do just as Jolene Ihnat of Studio 217 Photography did; keep rescheduling and hope for the best. Located in Youngstown, Ohio, with another day of mild temperatures, the forecast did a 180. Blasted with snow! A blizzard! “The snow dumped on us the morning of the session. We received up to a foot of snow in a matter of 12 hours,” says Jolene. “It snowed like crazy the

entire session. It was freezing cold!” Focusing while the snow was coming down was a challenge in itself, but Jolene kept her numb trigger finger ready, making sure they all took breaks to warm up. The couple brought a vintage metal sled, and were making snow angels. The future bride told her that she would do pretty much anything for a picture. That statement is a photographer’s dream. The backdrop with the covered bridge was like a picture-perfect postcard.

SNOWFLAKE

KID “Even in Vermont, sometimes we have to make our own snow.” words Holly McCaig | photography Carrie Bombria Known for it’s beautiful ski resorts, and cozy inns, living in Vermont is a rewarding way to live life. The scenery lends itself to some of the most beautiful portrait opportunities. While Carrie of Carrie Ann Photography will normally be found behind her Nikon capturing an elopement or the occasional senior, this time, she focuses her lens on her own daughter. Carrie has access to some of the beauty of this state in her own backyard. Located on the Battenkill River, she and her daughter Lilian wheeled their wagon full of antique props and hung snowflakes from trees for this vintage-styled session. From the adorable vintage dress that she found on Etsy to the school desk that Lilian creates her works of art upon, the setting truly showcases Carrie’s style and life in Vermont.

Create Your Own Paper Snowflakes Words & Photography Carrie Bombria

Making paper snowflakes is a fun and inexpensive way to add a little pizazz to your winter session warm weather. All it takes is a few items you probably already have lying around your house. Supplies Needed: Cardstock, Paper Cutter, Sharp Scissors

01 To get started, you’ll cut your paper into a square. 02 Once cut, you’ll fold the paper in half, creating a triangle. 03 Fold that triangle in half again. 04 Now you’re going to fold that second triangle into thirds.

05 Fold one side of the triangle a third of the way over. As you fold over the other side it will overlap the

previous fold. All of these folds will help with making your design more intricate. and cut along the flat fold so that the lower half is completely cut off. complicated as you’d like.

06 The final step before you can begin the detail process is to flip over your paper

07 Now is where the fun begins! 08 You can make your design as completely simple or

09 I made mine in different sizes by making different sized squares so I’d have a little variety.

Shooting for Collateral Materials

8 Easy Tips When Photographing for Professional Marketing Pieces words & photography Holly McCaig

When it comes to your collateral materials for your business, we want to make sure you’re getting the perfect images to include in them. We have compiled a list that can help you this January, as you put together new pieces for your business. When you’re out with your client, take the time to shoot a few images for yourself. Think about how you’re going to use the image in your marketing pieces. Your job is to attract new clients. The best way to achieve that is by having professional marketing materials that you can be proud to hand out to everyone.

1

AVOID TIGHT CROPS

Avoid tightly-cropped shots. Consider that collateral templates may require room for a bleed (printing extends beyond edge of sheet after trimming). You don’t want awkward crops in your printed pieces. The example shown above allows for this image to be placed into marketing pieces that have a bleed. The subject won’t be cropped out of the marketing piece.

2

SHOOT FOR PAGE SPREADS

Catalog brochures are popular. Review the template to see if some files are set up to spread across two pages. Pull back and shoot with your subject clearly on one side to avoid centering the subject in the seam. The example shown gives you a good idea of how you can add text to the left side.

48  January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com

Shooting for Collateral Materials

3

Include White Space

Overlaying text on top of an image is widely used to send a message while showcasing your work. A popular example of this is a postcard mailer. Make sure to leave plenty of white space (that’s empty space away from subject) to compensate for messages and attention-grabbing text.

6

SHOOT BOTH WAYS

When photographing, be sure to shoot both horizontal and vertical options to cover all of your bases. Not only does it please you client to have those choices, it gives you more images to work with.

4

LOOK FOR OPEN BACKGROUNDS

When shooting outdoors, look for a location with an open background. This could be a large field or where the sky is visible and in a large portion of the frame. The less distracting the background, it will make the perfect backdrop for text to be placed on top of it.

7

STAY CONSISTENT

Shoot consistently for your collateral materials. Make notes about lighting and camera settings if you have to photograph on different days. For filling your brochures with multiple photos, use the same style setup like props and backgrounds to remain consistent.

5

Backdrop Choices

8

HAVE A PLAN

Consider the background choices used when photographing your product offerings. If it’s really busy like this chevron pattern shown, play with the depth of field to take it out of focus. This way if you need to stretch the image to one side to give you more white space, it won’t look like you did.

Review your templates ahead of time. Make notes on what you need to photograph and how. Having a plan will save you a lot of time when putting marketing materials together.

It’s so important to really take the time to photograph for yourself. Challenge yourself and use those creative messages. I wanted to do something fun and different from my normal portraiture. The e-zine focus on winter challenged me to work with my makeup artist, Jennifer on an idea. Together, we both pulled off the concept in a matter of a week. She had the perfect model, Mary. Working with someone on an idea can be challenging. But, Jennifer and I have a private, shared Pinterest board where we can share our ideas and inspiration. We spent little money on this shoot - trying to use what we had. I was fortunate to have a few wedding dresses lying around the studio - the one Mary is wearing fit her like a glove. The crown was made from a marked down holiday decoration at my local craft store. Jennifer used pieces of the crystals that fell from cutting the new crown down to size within her makeup application.

My mother has the most adorable snow settings on tables during the holidays and she graciously gave me the extra faux snow to use. We sprinkled it over Mary’s head, and both Jennifer and my intern, Brittney blew snow at her. I searched Online for icy textures to use and found some on Deviantart.com. Since we haven’t gotten much snow or ice this year, I had to source those files. Normally, I would just photograph it and use my own. After overlaying the texture file, I created a mask to remove it from my subject’s face. The final touch was using an action from Michelle Kane’s Botanical Blends called Juniper. It gives the image an icy blue feel without being too overdone. Watch the blog at Two Pear Designs in January for more detailed editing of this image.

TIPS YOU CAN USE Shooting in Snow So you took a ton of (what you thought were amazing) shots in the snow, but now the snow just looks icky and dingy…perhaps even gray or blue. Here are a few pointers that might help.

01. Shoot in RAW. Snow tends to be hard for our camera’s auto white balancing (often snow ends up with a blue hue sooc). So, shoot raw which will make for easy fixes later. Custom white balance is awesome for this as well.

02. Metering For portrait work, you’ll want to make sure you are spot metering off of your subject. For scenery or shots of people with a lot of scenery in the shot where spot metering is inefficient (like kids playing in the snow) use exposure compensation to bump your exposure by 1-2 stops. Of course if you don’t want to actually dial in exposure compensation, you can always watch your exposure meter and overexpose by 1-2 stops. This is basically the same process. By overexposing, you will take your gray snow to brilliant white, and keep your subject from being underexposed!

03. Batteries Also, don’t forget to start with a fully charged battery. Cold weather makes your battery drain faster.

04. Dress Warm Dress warm. You don’t want to miss an amazing shot because you are freezing.

Spirited and Full of Life “She’s 27, a mom of two, wife to her business partner, and she remains full of life despite a long road ahead.”

68  January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com

Have you seen her videos on YouTube? I am talking about her spunky-spirited ones where she is singing? How can you not think that Alyssa Paro doesn’t have a fun life? Go ahead and take a moment to check them out if you will. Her personality is bubbly and fun. You simply can’t help but smile in her presence. Alyssa and her husband, Will, run Veritas Photography out of the Louisville & Indiana region. This husband and wife team are lucky to work together on every session they shoot. Their specialty is chic and modern weddings, and they are well known for their clean and fresh style. I could keep going on and on about their photography business, but I would rather you get to know Alyssa and Will. I asked them a few burning questions I love to find out about new friends. Will, what do you love about Alyssa? I love how spontaneous she is. Believe me when I say there is never a dull moment in the Paro household. Plus she’s gorgeous. This question is for both of you: What’s your favorite thing to do when it’s raining outside? We love spending time with our kids. We have a boy, Liam 5, and a girl, Ava 4. They keep us on our toes, but we have a blast. We love ending the day cuddled up on the couch watching something on Netflix. If you could take a trip anywhere around the world, where would you go? Will: I would choose Rome, or Istanbul. I graduated College with a minor in History, so I’m all about ancient

cities, especially these two big Roman strongholds. Alyssa: Czechoslovakia What’s your favorite color? Will: Blue Alyssa: Aqua Alyssa, what was your biggest worry before being diagnosed with breast cancer?

Yes, you read that right. Alyssa is just 27 years old, newly diagnosed with breast cancer. One of our own. That awful, dreaded C-word. On November 30, 2012, Alyssa got the news that would forever change her life. ▶

January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com  69

“But honestly, when I say everything happens for a reason. I believe it.”

Alyssa, what was your biggest worry before being diagnosed with breast cancer? “I’ve spent a week thinking about this question and I haven’t been able to come up with anything solid. Of course any parent is afraid of something happening to their kids or family. But honestly, when I say everything happens for a reason. I believe it. I got a tattoo in 2008 down my entire spine that says‚ Nothing is gonna change my world‚ in Hebrew. It’s a Beatles lyric from the song Across the Universe. No matter what happens in my life, nothing can change my world. To some, this may seem extreme. But as humans, we really do not have control.” I watched Alyssa’s videos on her blog, Viva la Cure. She’s funny. She’s detailed. She tells it like it is. I watched as she told me (like she was there talking right at me) her symptoms. I don’t think I have ever really heard someone tell me how they knew something was wrong. ▶

70  January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com

Will and Alyssa love their job. Their weddings have such a beautiful modern and clean feel to them. We hope Alyssa can heal quickly and get back to what she truly loves doing.

Alyssa, how do you keep such a positive attitude? My positive attitude derives straight from the previous question. I have faith in life and how it’s supposed to pan out. I might as well make the best of it here instead of wasting energy negatively. I want everyone I meet to feel like they are worth the world to me and to how truly special they are Will, what words of encouragement do you have for your wife as she takes this journey? Be strong Lyss. We are all standing right next to you holding your hand and will be walking with you on this perilous journey. I love you. Alyssa, do you have big plans for anything after you’re cured? I do! I want to continue Viva La Cure and make it an NPO (non-profit organization) to raise money for other women with breast cancer and survivors. I want to raise awareness and find a cure before my daughter grows boobies! ▶

▶ She doesn’t plan to take this lying down. Alyssa has

started a blog, Viva la Cure, where she is documenting all the details about her journey. You can watch her tell you her experiences from the heart. See her experience with her doctors. Have a few laughs. At the time this article went to press, Alyssa was preparing for surgery. On December 21st, she will undergo a double-mastectomy. Over the months ahead the procedure for reconstruction will start, and she will continue to heal. She is fighting this. She will win. Support Alyssa and her family by visiting vivalacure.org today. You can purchase t-shirts that will help them with medical expenses. Every little bit helps.

“Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed. The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. However, not all blues are serene and sedate. Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic -- an engaging color that expresses exhilaration. Some shades or the overuse of blue may come across as cold or uncaring. Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings.” source: sensationalcolor.com

The other reason I thought of this color is because I see it reflecting off of the beautiful fields of snow we have here in Indiana! My model was very brave and let me dress her in a sparkly blue dress which also reminded me of the sun bouncing off of the snow. I wanted her makeup to be minimal and icy.”

We are a society of convenience. We want information at our finger tips, now! People have their mobile phones with them at all times. As a business owner, it is important to have our websites readily available, and user friendly… mobile friendly! words & photography Lorie Belcher We’re all aware that mobile device usage is exploding as a means for viewing web content, and making our daily lives run smooth. Many photographers and graphic designers have not taken advantage of the transition to mobile. Most don’t even know how their website looks on a smartphone. Sure, it may be viewable, but not at a size built specific to the device currently being held in your hot, little hands! Is your website mobile friendly? Many photographers and graphic designers utilize website technology that does not render well on mobile devices. In cases where websites are built with Adobe Flash, they don’t work at all. The potential client might see a broken page or error message. An attractive mobile website, that is easy to navigate, insures that your customers will have an experience that is optimal for any device they are using. And the best part is you can become mobile friendly without abandoning the full website in which you have invested so much money and time. Yes, even if you have a Flash website. I’m guilty of not being aware of the “mobile-friendly” world. I recently had my website updated with a new design, new features, galleries, map directions to my studio, etc. I enjoyed my website for a few months until I learned from my new web designers that my site was not mobile friendly to my clients. I said, “what do you mean? I can see my site just fine on my phone.”

To give you an idea of how important smartphones are in every day life: A striking 87 percent of smartphone owners check the Internet or email on their phones, including 68 percent who do so generally every day, and 25 percent say they “mostly go Online using their phone, rather than with a computer.” Source: Pew Internet Project via MSNnews.com/technology

Some features of the Mobile Hippo platform: No need to rebuild your full website

Works on all devices, including iPhone and Android

Customizable appearance, without automatic content “smashing”

Once they explained and showed me the difference, I was aware that my clients weren’t able to view the information I wanted to relay to them. For me, and I’m sure many of you, the amount of current and potential clients I have are using their mobile devices for information on everything. This includes looking for photographers to hire. It is important as a business owner to readily have our websites available to mobile users. My web guys opened me up to an awesome, user-friendly, reasonably-priced website builder called Mobile Hippo. Comparing the competition left me with the obvious choice of Mobile Hippo. They offer a fantastic solution for photographers looking to create a mobile-friendly presence on the Internet. Mobile Hippo’s websites are completely customizable, so you can put exactly what you want on your mobile website. The software eliminates the need for a native app, like some companies require to get to a mobile ver-

sion of your website. All the client has to do is enter your website url,and it’s automatically formatted to fit their mobile device. Another bonus is that Google is pushing for mobile websites. So, it helps with search engine optimization (SEO). And we all know the importance of a presence on Google. In a nutshell, the goal of mobile websites is for our clients to have a quick look at our website. We want to grab their attention, get them to tap that “touch to call” feature, and call to book a session. Better yet, having your clients use the “touch for map & directions” feature. BAM! They are on the way to your location. I was curious so I took the liberty of checking out some of my favorite photographers’ websites. And well, I think they may want to go to www. mobilehippo.com, or have your web developer do the checking for you! Either way, you do not want to wait any longer for your website to be “mobile friendly!”

warm winter Photographer, Monica Day knows what it’s like to be in warmer weather during winter. Even though she’s fortunate to experience snow while stationed in Boston, her native South Carolina challenges her. words & photography Monica Day As lovely as snowy winter photos are, it’s not always possible. Many of us live in warmer climates. There could also be an unusually warm winter. So what do you do when you have a winter shoot but no winter settings? Here are a few ideas of how to make the most of your outdoor winter shoot in warm climates.

88  January/February 2013 twopeardesigns.com

Turn this baby into a summer shoot! I had a client come from Indiana to South Carolina so that she could shoot with me. The weather was cold, but there was no snow. We decided to make this a mix of cold and warm-weather shots. We started the shoot at the beach and froze our butts off! The result was beautiful images for her and her family to cherish. She even had a story to tell!

1

Incorporate cold weather gear and clothing. Sometimes we have to look for weather cues in the things that are around. Have your subject dress in a jacket, scarf, gloves, long sleeves, etc. Mix and match to give the feel of winter. The same beach client traveled with me into the city so that we could get a different feel. We decided to do a winter jacket with a hat and scarf so that you could tell it was winter…or at least cold outside.

2

Take advantage of the warm weather. The good thing about living in warmer climates is the fact that you can photograph year round with very little problem. I encourage my clients to get out of their jackets and think warm thoughts. They can show off their awesome winter outfits without having to be covered in a huge bubble coat or have runny noses.

3

Get out earlier! Winter brings early sunsets. This means that you’ll have to get your subject outside earlier in the day. You know your area best, so think about this when scheduling weeks in advance.

4

Dress in layers and encourage your clients to do so as well! There’s nothing worse than having sweaty clients. Often we dress for how we feel at the moment and forget that we’ll be walking around and working. Make sure your clients dress in layers so that they stay cool and beautiful. This also helps to add variety to your photos. An awesome coat starts off the shoot and you finish with an amazing blouse, sweater, or dress. You may have to do this the opposite way and end in a coat since the temperature often drops towards the end of your shoot. Keep this in mind and help your clients plan accordingly.

5

Monica Day is a portrait photographer for women serving the Boston area, traveling to South Carolina for appointments as well. monicadayphotography.com facebook.com/monicadayphoto

Think about the feel you want your images to have. From there, create the feel by consulting with your clients and helping them choose the location and clothing. You can also edit them in a way that gives a wintery feel.

6

Have fun and bring your happy holiday spirit to your shoot. Bring some ornaments, snowflakes, glitter, garland, etc. These will also help convey a winter feel.
