EXPLORE, DISCOVER, ENGAGE: A PLAN FOR THE FORT WORTH BOTANIC PLANNING & ANALYSIS

A recent merger of the two premier horticultural institutions in Fort Worth (The Botanic Garden and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas) ushered in the opportunity to re-vision their combined campus. Each well known separately (one as the first public garden in Texas, and BRIT as a research institution for biodiversity and conservation), the plan reimagines the role of a “public” garden that delivers a new combined mission. Seeking to quadruple visitation in 5 years, the plan simplifies circulation, rediscovers remnant ecologies, and proposes new destination gardens. A layered array of educational experiences celebrates BRIT’s research - making science accessible and legible throughout the campus.
