SUN BELT TOURNAMENT
A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION - GEORGIA STATE Georgia State enters the 2014 Sun Belt Tournament as the No. 6 seed with a 4-4-1 conference record and 6-9-4 overall record. Whitney Ravan leads the Panthers offensively as she has scored a team-high eight goals. In addition to her goals, she has recorded two assists for the team, putting her team-high point total to 18. The Panthers have scored 18 goals as a team while allowing 19. Although Georgia State has scored only 18 goals on the season, it has never lost a contest by more than one goal all year.
offensive pressure, scoring the first and only goal of the contest. Caitlynn Rinehart came up with a big save in the 76th minute to keep the score a 1-0. The Georgia State player broke away from the defense and shot the ball just yards in front of Rinehart in front of the net. Texas State began to apply pressure nearing the end of the contest as Clarissa Leon and Lauren Prater put together passes that set Prater up in front of the net. Prater’s shot was fired right in line with Georgia State’s goalkeeper. The series is tied at 1-1.
Brie Haynes is the primary goalkeeper for Georgia State as she has logged over 1,200 minutes this season. Haynes owns a 0.81 goals against average and .836 save percentage. Against Texas State in the season finale for the Panthers, Georgia State notched its sixth shutout of the year. LAST TIME OUT - GEORGIA STATE After starting off the game with a pair of shots by Lynsey Curry, the Bobcats were forced to play on the defensive throughout the remainder of the first half. A key defensive stop for the Bobcats was in the 15th minute of action when Georgia State had a free kick just yards outside of the box. The Bobcat wall of fourdeep blocked Lauren Harriman’s shot and ultimately the scoring opportunity dissolved for Georgia State. Georgia State did record three corner shots in the first half compared to zero by the Bobcats. Shots, however, remained even at four a piece at intermission. The Panthers continued to put pressure on the Bobcats to start the second half as at one point there were back-to-back-to-back corner kicks by Georgia State. Prior to those corner kicks, sophomore midfielder Ali Jones notched a huge save at the right post.
QUICK BOBCAT FACTS Against Arkansas State, senior Tori Hale recorded her 17th career assist which tied the program career record that was previously set by Britney Curry, the older sister of current forward Lynsey Curry. She then added her 18th against UL Monroe to hold sole possession of the all-time record. Kat Conner is seeking her 167th career victory against Georgia State on Wednesday. She has been the sole coach for the Texas State Soccer program. Against Appalachian State, Conner tallied her 100th conference victory. Last season, the Bobcats advanced to the Semi-Final round of the Sun Belt Conference before ultimately falling to Western Kentucky. 2013 REVIEW With a debut in its third conference in as many seasons, the Texas State Soccer team found its way to the semifinal match of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and an 8-9-2 overall record. The 2013 Bobcats set a program record for most overtime contests in a single season with six, of which only one resulted in a victory.

In her 15 seasons as the leader of the Bobcats, she has won a combined four championships, five conference tournaments, and she also has taken Texas State to the NCAA Tournament five times. Last season, Conner guided the Bobcats in their third conference in as many seasons, finishing with a 4-3-1 conference record and a Semi-Final finish in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Sophomore Lynsey Curry, a forward from Cypress, Texas who earned Freshman of the Year honors in the WAC the previous season, earned Second-Team AllConference honors. Tori Hale also was named Second-Team All-SBC. In just her second season with the Bobcats in 2013, Hale also tied the single season record in assists with nine. Conner’s latest appearance in the NCAA Tournament came in 2011 after the Bobcats defeated Stephen F. Austin in the Southland Conference Tournament, 1-0. Heading into the

game, SFA was the leading goal scoring team in the country with over 3.4 goals per game. Texas State finished that season 14-6-1, just one of 20 teams in the country to win at least 12 games. From 2008-11, the Bobcats won a combined 53 games, 30th most in the NCAA. Individually, Texas State finished the 2011 season with a league-high six All-Southland Conference selections along with Newcomer of the Year, Andrea Mauk. During her tenure, Conner coached three Southland Conference Players of the Year, four Newcomers of the Year, three Freshman of the Year, one All-American and 65 AllConference team members. In Texas State’s inaugural season, Conner led Texas State to a 9-9-3 overall record and a 6-3-3 mark in the Southland Conference to finish third overall and advance to the league’s postseason tournament. Despite the inexperience, Texas State claimed its first-ever SLC Tournament title and played in the NCAA Tournament play-in game. Two years later, the Bobcats returned to the NCAA Tournament after posting a 14-7-0 overall record and claiming the SLC title and sweeping through the SLC tournament. It was just the second time in league history a team had won both the conference and conference tournament championships. Conner continued her winning ways in 2002 when Texas State shared the SLC championship with Southeastern Louisiana, and again in 2004 when the Bobcats won the SLC Tournament and made its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Texas State turned in the best season of Texas State’s Soccer in history in 2008. The Bobcats posted a 13-4-4 overall record and went undefeated against SLC opponents with a 7-0-2 mark to claim the SLC championship. Duplicating the feat previously achieved in 2001, Texas State alsowon the Southland Tournament and advanced to the NCAA’s.
