REFLECTING ON LAST YEAR • Texas State returns to action in 2015-16 after its second consecutive trip to the Women’s Basketball Invitational, marking the first time in school history the squad has made the postseason in back-to-back seasons. • The Bobcats finished the regular season with a 16-13 overall record and earned its second tournament win in the Sun Belt Conference, this time against UT Arlington, before falling to Little Rock in the semifinal game. • In conference play last season, the Bobcats turned in an 11-9 record with their most significant win of the season coming against Arkansas State on Senior Day at Strahan Coliseum. Texas State stormed out of the gates against the Red Wolves by outscoring them 42-26 in the first half. • Despite A-State producing more offense in the second half, Texas State held on to its lead to give head coach Zenarae Antoine her first victory over the Red Wolves. A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION - TEXAS A&M • To kick-off the season, the Bobcats will have a tough task with the trip to the ranked Aggies of Texas A&M. In the preseason AP poll, Texas A&M was ranked No. 13, marking the 10th consecutive season that the Aggies have been ranked in the Top 16 of the initial AP Poll. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Texas A&M sits at No. 16. • The Aggies have been ranked in the AP Poll for the last 30 consecutive weeks and it’s the 172nd time in the last 179 weeks that they have made an appearance. • For the first time in school history, the Aggie women’s program returns two All-Americans, with two-time selection Courtney Walker and Jordan Jones slated to come back for Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair, as the team looks for its 11th straight NCAA Tournament Appearance. • The Aggies return four starters in 2015-16—three of whom earned All-SEC honors a year ago. Jones, Walker and Courtney Williams, who competed for the United States national team in the Pan American Games this summer, look to earn All-SEC honors again as seniors, while Khaalia Hillsman looks to build on the momentum of a strong freshman campaign that saw her start the season’s last 10 games.

She averaged 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds that year. • Kiani Lurry, a freshman from Miami, Fla., was named FirstTeam All-County by the Miami Herald in 2013 and 2015. • Transfer McKinley Bostad, who played her freshman campaign at Arkansas, will have to sit out this season due to the NCAA transfer rules. Bostad was named SEC Freshman of the Week while at Arkansas.

selection in Erin Peoples, as Peoples will sit out due to an ACL injury earlier in the preseason. Peoples has scored over 1,000 points for Texas State and led the team last year with 13.5 points per contest. • Texas State does, however, return senior guard Ayriel Anderson, one of the most exciting players to watch in the Sun Belt Conference. Anderson is a Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Second-Team pick and was second last season in total points scored with 10.9 per game. • Senior guard Raven Burns returns to Texas State for her final collegiate season. Burns recorded a career-high 24 made three-pointers last season. • Anderson currently sits just 98 points away from cracking 1,000 points in her career and is also just 62 three’s away from being all-time leader for career three-pointers at Texas State. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

• The Bobcats will also return Kaitlin Walla and Ti’Aira Pitts as last year, ACL injuries sidelined both of them.

• Another transfer, Amber Jones, is expected to make some noise in her junior season as she came to Texas State after earning back-to-back All-Conference honors at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

• Kaitlin Walla, before her injury, shot over 53 percent from beyond the arc and 49 percent from the floor. She only played in eight games last season for Texas State.

LOOKING AT THE RETURNERS • This season, the Bobcats are going to have to figure out how to work without Second-Team All-Sun Belt Conference

A LOOK AT THE RETURNERS, CTD... • Taeler Deer was just two rebounds shy of recording the only triple-double of the season last year against UL Monroe. Deer also tallied a career-high 23 points last year in conference play against Appalachian State. NEW RULES TO LOOK OUT FOR • This season, the NCAA has implemented many new rule changes for both the men and the women. • Several of the rule changes include the women moving to a four-quarter format versus the two halves in previous seasons. Each coach will now receive three 30-second timeouts and one full timeout over the span of the contest. The full timeout can be used at any time and if there is not a timeout used in the first half, one is deducted from the second half. • An addition change that fans will notice deals with the pep band and any amplified music during the game. Now, bands and amplified music may be played during any dead ball period. • Another rule change is the bonus free throw change. With the move from halves to quarters, a team is awarded two free throws for each common foul beginning with the fifth team foul in a period. • During the last 59.9 seconds of the game (fourth period or any extra period) when the team in control of the ball, or the team who is to be awarded a throw-in in their backcourt, is granted a timeout, the team will have the option to move the throw-in sport to the 28-foot line in the frontcourt on the same side of the playing court as the scorers’ table.

ZENARAE ANTOINE

HEAD COACH FIFTH SEASON AT TEXAS STATE Zenarae Antoine is in her fifth season as the head coach at Texas State. In her first season, she led one of the best turnarounds in school history, taking a 9-20 team the year before, to 17-14 including the school’s first conference tournament win since 2003. Since, she has led the team to back-to-back appearances in the WBI Tournament in 2014 and 2015. In the 2013-14 season, Antoine led the Bobcats to their first postseason appearance since the 2008 WNIT with an invitation to the WBI Tournament. Texas State earned the invitation after posting a 12-6 Sun Belt Conference record and winning the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinal game against Georgia State by a score of 78-44. Texas State then duplicated its postseason run in 2015 with its secondstraight WBI Tournament appearance after finishing 11-9 in SBC play and a victory against UT Arlington in the SBC Tournament quarterfinal game. In the 2014 and 2015 SBC Tournament, Texas State was one of just three teams to make it to the semifinal game each season. While competing in the 2015 semifinal contest, junior guard Erin Peoples became the 15th player in school history and third under Coach Z to reach the 1,000-point mark.

In its first season in the Sun Belt in 2013-14, Texas State went above and beyond preseason expectations. The Bobcats finished tied for third place after being chosen ninth in the SBC preseason poll. The Bobcats finished the season with a 16-16 record, the second most wins for Antoine since arriving in San Marcos in 2011. During the 2013-14 season, Ashley Ezeh became the 14th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Ezeh finished the season in four different top-10 charts including ninth in points with 1,310, seventh in rebounds with 711, third in blocked shots with 62, and seventh in free throws made with 276. Ezeh was named Second-Team All-SBC, her second all-conference recognition after earning Southland Conference Third-Team honors in 2011-12. As a member of the WAC in 2012-13, Texas State won its first game against a Big 12 opponent since 2005, after beating TCU, 91-80, at Strahan Coliseum. Earlier in the year, the Bobcats won their first game against a Sun Belt opponent since 2005, defeating North Texas, 86-84, in Denton. Antoine’s high scoring style is evident as the Bobcats led the WAC for the majority of the year in scoring offense, finishing the year 40th in the country with an average of 69.7 points per game. That total was in part due to the team’s 100-67 win against San Jose State in the regular season finale, marking the first time since 1988 the Bobcats scored 100 points against a Division I opponent. Also during the 2012-13 season, Diamond Ford set the school single season scoring record under the direction of Antoine with 644 points, including 27
