2 President’s Message Thanks to everyone who came out to Bowling with Trey Hunt Builders. As always, we had a great time, all while raising money for HOMEPAC, the Texas Association of Builders pro-housing political action committee. For those of you who joined us in Austin for Rally Day, I’m sure you have a greater understanding now of why we raise money each year for HOMEPAC and why it’s important to represent our industry to our elected officials. Thanks to everyone who attended Rally Day! I hope you’ll join us here at TABA on Tuesday, April 2nd for After Hours sponsored by Ark Assurance. We also have a General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, April 10 at The Cascades. Please RSVP with TABA at (903) 561-3964 or email admin@tylerareabuilders.com. Note from speaker: §179D & §45L-the Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deduction and The Energy Efficient Home Credit. Both of these powerful incentives are to reward the responsible construction of structures. The §179D Deduction goes to the owners of commercial properties built to exceed the federal standard of energy efficiency (for government owned properties it goes to the builders, since government entities don’t pay federal taxes). The §45L Credit goes to the developers who construct Energy Efficient Residential Property/Communities. These are federal tax dollars that have already been set aside, and are simply waiting on the taxpayers responsible for the property to claim them. Both need a 3rd party licensed and accredited rater to model and certify using IRS approved software, against the IRS baseline minimums for energy efficiency (currently both are a 2007 and 2006 standard), which is what my firm does.
