2 President’s Message I am honored to be serving as your 2018 TABA President and I’m John McKinney looking forward to a great year ahead. I’d like to welcome our new board members, Curtis Clader, Phil Smith & Jill Peters. Also, thanks to all of our board members serving alongside them this year. It’s almost time for the Home Products Show, one of TABA’s largest annual events. The Home Products Show represents what TABA is all about, featuring exhibitors from all aspects of the homebuilding industry. If you’re an exhibitor, you already know how effective this show is in spotlighting your business to new customers. If you don’t have a booth, I encourage you to visit this year to see what the Home Products Show is all about and support your fellow members. Builders, you can attend for free on Friday night, so be sure to come out and meet other members you could be doing business with. As always, our Home Products Show committee has been working hard to make sure this is a great show. Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors for making this event possible.

Builder contracts to participate in the 2018 Parade of Homes are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018. This is the final contract submittal date and no application will be accepted after this date. Contracts can be downloaded from the Parade of Homes page on TABA’s website, or you can pick up a copy at the TABA office.

Regarding membership dues paid to Tyler Area Builders Association, the portion attributable to “lobbying activities” is NOT deductible from federal income taxes as an ordinary and necessary cost of doing business per the 1993 U.S. Congress Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. For 2018 taxes, the total amount of state and national dues that is NOT deductible as a business expense for a builder or associate member is $121.01 and $22.28 for an affiliate member.
