2 President’s Message There’s a lot going on at TABA this month; be Erin Wright sure to check out everything coming up and mark your calendars! We’ll kick off the month of September with After Hours on Tuesday September 5th, 5-7 p.m. here at TABA. After Hours is a free networking event and is open to all members. Don’t forget to bring your business cards! If you’re a new member, I hope you’ll join us for Coffee with TABA on September 13th to meet staff and learn how to take advantage of your membership. You can find more information on page 5 of this issue. Everyone be sure to join us for lunch at our Annual Associate Appreciation Cookout on Monday, September 18th. This is a come-andgo event for all TABA members and their staff. Our Membership Committee is still working out details, but mark your calendar for our Membership Drive on Wednesday, September 20th. If you would like to be involved, contact TABA staff and we’ll be emailing more information soon about how to participate. I hope to see you at one of our many events this month. 3 Texas Association of Builders Awards Local TABA Builders The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) presented awards to two TABA builders, John McKinney and Erin Wright. The highly-coveted Texas Association of Builders Awards were given in conjunction with the Sunbelt Builders Show™ to recognize excellence in all areas of the home building industry. TAB announced John McKinney as a 2017 Excellence under 45 Award winner in recognition of his commitment to the Texas building industry. The Excellence under 45 Award Program was developed by the TAB Young Professionals Council and is designed to acknowledge young professionals for their hard work and successes, reward their performance and showcase them as future leaders of the industry across our state. TAB awarded Erin Wright a Star Award for the category Best Special Project, Non-Primary Residence, recognizing her work on the Red Rooster Icehouse in Hawkins. The 2017 Star Awards recognized the outstanding work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, sales professionals, marketing professionals, construction professionals and industry leaders in Texas and the Southwest. Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
