BUILDING FINE YOUNG MEN.
ONE BOY AT A TIME BRINGING THE STRATEGIC PLAN TO LIFE
2012-2013
The 2012-13 school year was our second year of implanting the Strategic Plan, One Boy at a Time. The plan was approved in 2011, and will carry us through a ten-year cycle of improvement, discovery and measurement. Its overriding purpose is to strengthen our ability to build fine young men, as we establish St. George’s School Canada’s World School for Boys. Building on our accomplishments of last year, various teams worked over the course of the year on a number of key initiatives, and in May of 2013, a large group including faculty, staff, students, parents and Georgians met to review our progress and to ensure that we remain focused on the key priorities of the plan: A Boy’s Learning; A Boy of Character; a Boy of the World; and A World School. Much was accomplished in 2012-13 in all four priority areas; we are most proud of some of the following key initiatives: •W e
developed a Growth & Renewal Program for our faculty, with ongoing emphasis on Professional Development and collaboration.
STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE
•W e completed the Campus Master Plan and are now developing
our implementation plans (see page 12-13). •F ocusing
constantly on our Core Values, we now include them as a measure in our Junior School Report Cards.
•S ervice
Learning opportunities have been expanded for our students both in Vancouver and internationally.
•A
Green Audit was launched in support of our environmental sustainability priority, as a first step in a multi-faceted plan.
•A comprehensive long-term plan for the future of our Boarding
Program was developed as part of a bold vision for the future of Boarding at the School. Please see pages 10 and 11 for the full Strategic Plan update. JUNIOR SCHOOL CAMPUS
SENIOR SCHOOL CAMPUS A widely consultative process over more than 18 months has now evolved into a plan to guide our facility needs. We have identified the barriers to us being able to fully deliver on the promise of excellence in teaching and learning for the 21st century. We have a plan to remove these barriers and we have taken the advice of world-class experts in the conception and design of exceptional educational environments.
