My piece Tableau No. IV, for solo bassoon is a part of a series of solo pieces that I' ve been writing since the fall of . Each work is for a different solo instrument and explores the expressive possiblities of each.Some composers of the latter half of the th century have explored this idea, notably Luciano Berio ( Sequenzas), Vincent Persichetti ( Parables), and Elliott Carter ( Figments and Retracings).Coincidentally, these are some of my favorite composers.
