Zaira is a fictional architectural project inspired by the book “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino. The key feature in Zaira is that the city soaks up memories and expands, without telling but letting the past be discovered.
I focused on the way people interact with the city when they explore the memories. The way Zaira encloses memories is stochastic, and metabolizes them like an organic system.
I visualized the city Zaira using Voronoi structure, to resemble the arrangement of cells in an organism.
How explorers access the city’s memories should be different from how data is retrieved in the digital world. It requires people to pay attention to the traits, and sometimes a bit of luck to read the memories, due to its stochastic feature.
4
The memories are trapped by the city and metabolized in a subtle way. Zaira itself is an organic system, which was why I made Zaira in a voronoi structure, to resemble the arrangement of cells.
The formation and storage of memories resemble the metabolism of neuron system. The halo parts in the structure are where Zaira digests its memories. Some in and construct.

conformity in Japanese society. People have a common tendency to adopt the opinions and follow the behavior of the majority, even if they hold different views from the beginning. The majority forms an ubiquitous system, from work culture to fashion, forcing people to submit to its value.
In Metamorphosis, each object symbolizes a person. The appearance and movement of every object is controlled by the system, except for one particular object- Metamorph. Metamorph stands for a punk in the system, who is aware of the system’s control and decides to get rid of it.

The form was inspired by the swarming behavior of tadpoles. Tadpoles cluster in large groups to decrease risks of predation and increase access to food, which resembles the way people conform to the system in order not to be excluded. Obeying the system guarantees one stability in the short run, and reduces risks of
The spinning way symbolizes the manipulation relationship between the social system and each person. In this context, the system expects a moderate and consistent movement of each object. Any inconsistent movement would soon be "corrected”, and return to the mildly spinning speed.

The rotating animation is made by setting camera path. Rotating speed is determined by the distance between the camera and the model, as the camera rotate in a constant speed by default.

Constructible Toy

Toy Design
Medium: Paper
Instructor: Ling-Li, Tseng
Playing is an universal human behavior and has therefore long been a subject of intense scientific interest. The constructible Toy is a playing-
15
The intention of constructible toys was to discover the potential of simple units in constructing forms. I chose 190 GSM paper as the material for the constructible toy, to build a light but sturdy structure when piled up. Three connected pieces worked as the simplest set to create more complex structures.
I made the shapes of basic units symmetric so that in some way the final result of the construction could be symmetric or irregular according to the intention of the players. The crease in every unit is critical to build volume in the overall structure.

9 Square Grid
Course Project, NYCU, 2021
Spatial Design - 2D Transform
Medium: Paper
Instructor: Ling-Li, Tseng
The project 9 square grid aims at developing a three-dimensional structure starting with a self-defined logic in two-dimensional space. The end result is a structure within 8*8*8 cm^3. The approach I made in the twodimensional development was by deconstructing and rebuilding the edge of diagonal lines. The process resembles creating a fractal structure.

Illusional Space
The intention of Illusional Space was to explore how light creates spatial experiences through the interaction between light, materials and forms. To display the contrast in how light enters transparent and opaque objects, I used celluloid and paper as the main material. The celluloid worked well to present an organic form and held a distinguished feature reflecting the strength it undertook.
The celluloid models were documentaries of two kinds of interaction, physical and intangible. The creases were left by physically pressing and squeezing the celluloid panels. Physical interaction with the models are preserved permanently. Compressing the celluloid panel left textures on the surfaces and deformed the panels.
In Contrast to physical interaction, the way light interacts with the models is ethereal. Caustics left by the celluloid creases merged to the shadow, and created a surrealistic spatial experience. The interaction between light and the models were documented by the shadow.
23
The model with a larger curvature resulted in a clearer shadow, with better performance in gathering lights.
