Where to from here? Step by step instructions on how to activate your computer account and complete your enrolment online through myHub 1.
Activate your NUaccess account (computer account)
In order to access essential computing services at the University you will be required to activate your NUaccess account. This will enable you to use computers and access systems, as well as other online services provided by the University. To activate your account, log in to the website at: https://identity.newcastle.edu.au/sa Enter your Student Number, Date of Birth and the Program Code provided in your letter of offer, in the required fields. This is an example only:

Click the ‘Next’ button. Your username and Initial Password will be displayed. Write these details down in the boxes provided below as they will be required for the next step. Username Initial Password Note: •
Your username is lowercase ‘c’ followed by your student number. You will use this to access University computers as well as online services and systems.

Click ‘Done’ and you will be directed to the ‘Login to the NUaccess User Interface’.
Enter the Username and Password that you wrote down previously into the respective fields and click the ‘Login’ button. Passwords are case-sensitive. A message will be displayed stating that your password has expired and you must change your password.
The conditions to satisfy a password are displayed below the password fields. Please note that your password MUST be a minimum length of 8 characters and contain at least one Uppercase letter, one number, one special symbol (e.g. *, $, #). An example of a password would be $Hamilton1 If your password does not satisfy the security requirements, a ‘Policy Violation’ error will be displayed. Your new password cannot be your initial password. Write your new password in the box below that you do not forget it. Password

Click the ‘Change Password’ button. You will be directed to the ‘Change Answers to Authentication Questions’ page.
There are 22 questions listed. You must answer a minimum of 5 questions. Make sure that you choose questions/answers that you will remember, as you will need to answer these if you forget your password. These responses are not case sensitive. Answer the amount of questions you require and then click the ‘Save’ button. These will be stored in uppercase, but are not case sensitive if they are required to be answered at a later date. You will be directed to the ‘Conditions of Use’ page. You will need to accept the ‘University Computing and Communications Facilities Terms and Conditions’ in order to finish activating your NUaccess account.

Once you have read the policy, click the ‘I Accept’ button if you agree to these conditions. If you do not wish to accept the terms and conditions of the University, click the ‘I decline’ button to be returned to the ‘NUaccess login’ page. You will NOT be able to login to any computer, online service or system of the University until you have accepted these Terms and Conditions. Click the ‘I agree’ button if you wish to complete your NUaccess account activation. You will be directed to the ‘NUaccess Home’ page. This means that you have successfully activated your student NUaccess account.
You will now be able to access the following student systems and online services: •
University Network Domain (UNCLE), so that you can login to any computer on the University network.

Online Services at http://webapps.newcastle.edu.au/index.cfm
•
myHub Student Portal (https://myhub.newcastle.edu.au), where you can add and drop courses and view your exam results.

Student Email (NUmail) at http://www.outlook.com/uon.edu.au You have been assigned a student email address When you sign in to your NUmail account, you must use the format c1234567@uon.edu.au as your Windows Live ID. You must check your NUmail account regularly because the University uses it as a primary point of contact for students.

Blackboard Learning Management System, where you can access your course learning materials at: https://blackboard.newcastle.edu.au/webapps/login/.
•
Print & Copy Services, so that you can print and photocopy documents.
•
User drive (U:), where you can store your own files and access them from any computer on the University network.
•
17000 Portal, where you can log a support call with 17TripleZero – The IT ServiceDesk.

The Internet
HELP! - if you need assistance with any of these steps/processes contact the IT Service Desk on 49217000. If you are using a publicly accessible computer, please ensure that your log out of all systems when you have finished using them. If any unacceptable behaviour is conducted using your student number, you will be held accountable and disciplinary action will be taken by IT Services and/or Student Services. What if I forget my password? There are two ways to obtain your password. To use the ‘Forgotten Password’ function: Navigate to the following URL: https://identity.newcastle.edu.au.
Enter your Username into the User ID field and click ‘Forgot Password?’ You will be presented with a list of questions you previously answered. You are required to answer all 5 correctly.
When you have answered all questions correctly, you will be required to enter your new password into the ‘Password’ field and again into the ‘Confirm Password’ field. Click on the ‘Change Password’ button.
You will need to change your password to something that is NOT one of your previous passwords. A message will be displayed on the screen of whether the password change was successful or not. Click the ‘OK’ button. You will be returned to the ‘NUaccess Home’ page. If you enter your password incorrectly 3 times in a row into the NUaccess system, your account will be locked for 5 minutes. require further assistance, you can call 17TripleZero ( 49217000) – The IT ServiceDesk. A 17TripleZero representative will be required to ask you the following for identification purposes: •
Student Number – Your unique 7 digit number.
•
Date of Birth – In the format DD/MM/YYYY.
•
The 5 digit program code or the full name of the program you are enrolled in.
•
The course codes you are enrolled in.
Your password will only be reset by a 17TripleZero representative if all points of identification are correct.

Which courses can you study?
The list of course options for your particular program is included in your Enrolment Pack. You may only choose courses from this list. There is a code for each course and it has six letters and 3 numbers for example EPHUMA311. You can find the times through the University’s online timetable system http://webapps.newcastle.edu.au/timetables/class_times/classtimes.cfm . Class times and class locations will also show on myHub once you have made your course selections on that system. If your lectures clash then you will need to consider changing your course selection. Now you have your student number, password and a list of the courses you would like to study you can commence the online enrolment process.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO COMPLETE YOUR ONLINE ENROLMENT … 3. Logging on to myHub To access myHub you need to go to the University Home Page www.newcastle.edu.au At the top right hand corner is a Quick Links drop down box. This box includes links to most of the systems you will need to access during your study including your Studentmail and Blackboard.

To complete your enrolment you need to go to the Online Services page. The first entry in the list For Students is to myHub. Click on this link to continue.
The Online Services page also has links to many other areas including Timetables, Special Circumstances, Exam Timetables and much more, but there will be plenty of time to investigate them later. Login using your student number c3……… and password (you set this through NUaccess).

**IMPORTANT** Before you can enrol you MUST read the instructions and ACTION the mandatory items set out in the To Do List. As you click on View page for each item you will be asked to confirm details or complete a task. As you complete each one you click on the Return to myHub button which will bring you back to the Home page. The Items will disappear as you successfully complete each one. Accept Enrolment Terms and Conditions – Please read the Terms and Conditions of your enrolment as a student of the University Accept the Terms and Conditions if you agree. Click SAVE. If you do not agree then you will not be able to enrol. Click Return to myHub button View/Update Address Details – you need to check that the details on our system are correct and up to date. If not please edit them or add new Address type if required and SAVE the changes. Click Return to myHub button View/Update Emergency Contacts – You will need to add details of an Emergency contact. Click on the Add an Emergency Contact button to update your information and then SAVE changes. Click Return to myHub button Confirm Personal Details - Your personal statistical information is required by the Commonwealth Government. Step by Step Enrolment Guide Semester 2 2012

Check the information carefully and provide any missing information and make any changes that are required. You are also required to answer questions on the highest level of education of your parents/guardians Tick the certification at the bottom when you have checked and updated all necessary information. Click SAVE. Click Return to myHub button View the Campus Organisations - Do you want to join the campus organisations? If you are interested in participating in campus organisations and student life you should consider joining the various student bodies that exist on campus. There are links from this page if you would like more information or you can return to the Campus Organisation page from myHub later. Click Return to myHub button Complete the eCAF – All Foundation Studies students are required to complete the Commonwealth Assistance form (eCAF). While you are not required to pay tuition fees or HECS the form must be completed so that the University receives funding. If you do not complete the form then your enrolment may be cancelled. This is a long form which requires you to view several screens before you confirm the details, please make sure you go right to the end and accept the information. When you have read the information, select YES from the drop down box to confirm. Click Next Click Return to myHub button View the Disability Information – If you have a disability you will need to indicate the type of disability and whether you wish to register with the Disability Services. It is important that you register with Disability Services at the start of semester in order to have any special requirements put in place to support your study at the University. If this is your last Mandatory item then you will be presented with the normal home page for myHub. The homepage will indicate that you have ‘No To Do’s’ on your To Do List and you can proceed to enrol in your courses via the My Schedule and Enrolment on the left hand menu. The myHub homepage also has links to other areas and also links to change address if you need to in the future. At the top of the screen any enrolments will be displayed. In this case the message is: You are not enrolled in classes.

Select the MyHub – How to Enrol video link for a demonstration of the online enrolment process. Please note though that this video presents a demonstration of an undergraduate enrolment, rather than an Enabling enrolment. The following screen shots will assist you with your Enabling online enrolment.

To enrol click on the My Schedule and Enrollment link on the left of the screen. This will take you to the Add Classes page where you will be able to select your courses for Semester 2, 2012.

Search for Classes Complete the dropdown boxes with the information that you have available about your chosen class. Click on the Search button to activate your search for a class.
Notes on Searching •
You will only be able to enrol in one class (course) at a time.

The Course Subject is the six letter part of the Course Code. Enabling courses begin with EP……. Select the Course Subject from the drop down box.

If you know the Course Number for your class you may add this into the dialogue box, otherwise just leave this box empty to retrieve a full listing of classes available in your chosen subject area.

The Course Career should be Enabling.
•
Enter the Campus where you plan to study, selected from the dropdown box.
•
If you are unsure of which classes are available in your program, refer to the list of courses included in your Enrolment Pack.
For this example Horatio will enrol in EPHUMA303 Australian History and EPMATH303 Core Mathematics at Callaghan campus.

Enter as much information as you have to assist the search. In this example the Course Subject – EPHUMA (Enabling – Humanities) - and the Course Career - Enabling - have been selected - then click on the Search Button. You could include the course number as well, e.g. 303 You could also narrow your search by including the Location, e.g. Callaghan or Ourimbah. All offerings of the class are displayed. Select the class at your campus.
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION – SELECTING YOUR CLASS TIMES** At the same time as enrolling in the course you will be selecting your Class Times for lectures and tutorials, and any other course components (e.g. studios, laboratories). The times and venues for each class will be shown – and the dates that these classes start and end.

What if your Preferred Class time is Unavailable (i.e. already full)? 1. If your preferred class time is unavailable, you will need to select one of the available class times. 2. You may wish to check the Enrolment System at a later date as some additional places and times may become available. 3. At the Orientation Session further information about registering for classes will be explained to you and staff will be available to assist anyone who has had difficulty completing their online enrolment. 4. If your preferred class time is unavailable, and you have special circumstances that prevent you from attending at another time, you will need to make an appointment with the Program Co-ordinator to explain your situation. More information about requests for consideration of special circumstances will be available at the orientation session, or you can call 49215558 (Callaghan) or 43484076 (Ourimbah). Find your course and the correct campus and select your class times for each of the components of the course (e.g. lecture and tutorial).

A tick confirms that classes have been successfully added to your program. A cross next to a class indicates that it cannot be added to your program. There will be a message explaining the reason. At this time you may select another class to complete your enrolment or contact the Foundation Studies office if you require more assistance with enrolling. Step 9 – My Class Schedule The My Class Schedule will present a complete listing of your enrolment transactions in the term.

Changing Your Enrolment - Swapping Courses You may change from one course to another prior to the end of the second week of semester using the myHub system - https://myHub.newcastle.edu.au It is rare that you will be able to commence courses after the first two weeks of semester, as you will have missed too much of the course you wish to join. If you want to do so, seek advice from the Program Coordinator or the Foundation Studies office. Courses cannot be added online after the following dates: Semester 2 courses

Withdrawing or Discontinuing your Studies If you are unable to continue in the program, you must officially drop your courses on myHub. You may withdraw from the program on or before the last day of semester and prior to the commencement of the exam period. You cannot withdraw without academic penalty from the program after the last day of term or once the formal examination period has commenced. If you decide to withdraw from your program you will need to go into myHub and drop your courses using the Drop a Class link on your myHub home page and then contact the office enabling@newcastle.edu.au preferably by email from your studentmail. Important: If you do not officially withdraw from the program you will remain enrolled in your courses and Fail grades may be recorded against your student record. If you are thinking of withdrawing please contact the Foundation Studies office or the Program Co-ordinator to discuss your options.
