FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS

F e b r u a r y 5, 1962

Dear Students of 1961-62: Maturity is probably the one thing in life that men strive for more than anything else. We want to be recognized as "full-grown" individuals both physically and mentally from the day we are born. Few men, if any, have ever achieved it completely. The degree to which it is achieved depends upon our willingness to work, both physically and mentally. It requires a great deal of knowledge and wisdom to grow up mentally, and most of you are making p r o g r e s s . We hope you continue so you can be of great service to humanity. We feel that we are fortunate to have known you these few months and we sincerely hope you have profited from the acquaintance. May you each have a long, p r o s p e r o u s and happy life.

Sincerely y o u r s ,

E. T. Vines President

716TH TRANSPORTATION COMPANY (Medium Truck)(Cargo) Fort Chaffee, Arkansas

The Editors of Numa Fort Smith Junior College Fort Smith, Arkansas

19 February 1962

Dear Sirs: It gives me great pleasure to announce that the officers and men of the 7 16th Transportation Company have voted Miss Donna Parrish Miss Fort Smith Junior College for 1962. Miss Sue Lloyd won the Sophomore Queen title and Miss Marilyn Gail Bigge has been elected Queen of the Freshman Class. Since we left our homes in Aberdeen, South Dakota, last October no duty the 7l6th has performed has been more difficult, nor as delightful, as choosing three queens from among the nine pretty faces that have graced our Day Room for the past week. The 180 men of the company have devoted many hours to careful judging. The final balloting was close with each girl receiving considerable support. Let me congratulate the winners on their new titles and the Junior College on the beauty of all the contestants. We are grateful for the privilege of judging the contest. The only regret expressed in the company is that we have not met each of the young ladies personally.

Sincerely yours,

CECIL R. MONROE Capt. Arty Commanding
