The SOM Academic Success Program is working to strategically impact more students by: • Expanding the peer tutoring staff and involving them to create peer learning experiences • Soliciting faculty and student feedback to better address challenges in the curriculum/transition points • Piloting a pre-matriculation course for students who might benefit from early engagement • Developing an actionable, data-driven plan to expand the Step 1 advising program

INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL EDUCATION • Developed and fostered close to 20 programs that enable visiting scholars at varying degrees of academic levels to come to UAB for further training • International Visiting Medical Student (IVMS) Program hosted 124 students attending 160 different clinical electives • Sent 18 UAB medical students abroad through the Medical Student Enrichment Program for first and fourth years students who are interested in global medicine
