Open House Ministries We Get By With a Little Help from Our Friends! Issue #11 In This Issue

* Testimony from Camp Oasis * OHM Students are Online!

April 2012 Dear Alison, Remember this old Beatles song - "I get by with a little help from my friends?" Open House Ministries has been living this song in recent months! A mission team from Central Baptist in Daytona came down in January to fix-up our bathrooms and help with building maintenance.

OHM thanks our Friends! PRAYER REQUESTS PRAISE REPORT - OHM has 4 graduating Seniors this year!!! The graduation rate of Homestead has recently increased from 50% to 77% and In February, we met a few new friends from the NOMADS we are so glad that many of our of the Methodist church, who also helped with building projects.

youth are part of this new statistic! SUMMER CAMP - Please pray for our elementary and youth camps! This year our summer hires are local college students who grew up at OHM! Pray for summer funding to remain constant so we can pay these fine young men! WE WORSHIP! - Pray for our Sunday night service that is reaching between 12 - 20 people each week. OHM wants to minister to adults in our community too! ALIVE AGAIN - Pray that our 12-step recovery program will expand to also reach adults in our neighborhood struggling with addiction issues! Twentyfour (24) youth are enrolled in this program - we would like to be a resource for parents, neighbors and family members as well. ZAMBIA WELL: The children and youth of OHM and members of the WeWorship congregation have raised about $541 for a well in Zambia. Pray that God will bless their nickels, dimes and quarters and connect us with matching donors. The cost of a treadle pump well is only about $1,000. CBF field personnel have already identified a family who need this well to grow crops for their livelihood along the Zambezi river. DREAMERS - Pray for all the young people who were carried across our borders as small children and now have no pathway to citizenship. Pray for compassionate immigration reform.

In March, we were blessed with generous friends who helped us send 24 youth to Spring Break "Camp Oasis." We even had funding for food and buses!

In April, we were

blessed with volunteers from Miami-Dade College, Kiwanis and University Baptist Church who helped with our Easter Celebration and Gardening Project!

FAITHFUL FRIENDS - Praise God for our donors who support our day-to-day operational costs! OHM could not exist without YOU! WISH LIST "You have not, because you ask not..." OK - we're asking. Would you consider taking up one of these projects or even fundraising for them? Summer Field Trips for Youth - OHM has budgeted for a few field trips this summer, but our youth would LOVE the opportunity to visit some new, exciting places in Dade County! If funds are designated for this purpose, we can offer more field trips and keep the youth engaged in positive experiences! Educational computer games (K-5) Flat screen computer monitors (New or Used) Gift Cards from WalMart, Publix or Office Max can be used for snacks or supplies PlayStation, X Box or Wii Game Systems and Games (And thank you for the games we already received:) 12 or 15 passenger van and $5,000 to cover annual insurance costs

OHM has wonderful friends! Please continue to support us, especially through the summer months when our expenses go up, but income generally goes down! Thank you for being a FRIEND! "I thank my God every time I remember you." Phillippians 1:3 Blessings, Wanda Want to see more photos? I've Got that Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy... by Tiana This was my first year at Camp Oasis. I heard about Camp Oasis from my uncle who works at OHM. He said it was a lot of fun because there are kids from all over South Florida. I was excited and nervous about meeting all those new people, but I was not thinking about meeting God!

Backpacks and school supplies Flash drives for Middle School students Dental care supplies Special thanks to the donors who funded our pressure washer and copy machine!!!!

I have known about God most of my life and since I have been coming to Open House Ministries for the past 3 years, I have learned a lot more. But at Camp Oasis, I finally decided that I wanted to follow Jesus Christ for my whole life. When I think about how Jesus came into my heart, it makes me so happy but for some reason, I keep crying! I know these are tears of JOY! Thank you to all the people who helped us get to Camp Oasis! You made a difference in my life!

And We Are Online!!! Thanks to a "techy" friend (Bayron Maldonado) and some generous donors who helped with equipment, we now have all of our computers running and able to go online every afternoon in the ELEMENTARY and MIDDLE SCHOOL rooms!!!

While we have fairly new laptops in the computer lab, most of the computers in our elementary area were donated and needed a little TLC! Thanks for helping us learn how to use the latest technology! Please share this newsletter! We need more friends like YOU! Blessings, Wanda Ashworth Valencia,
