Why Is Smart Agriculture The Future of Farming? Internet is being applied in almost every sector and agriculture is no different. This has allowed the crops to be more productive with better efficiency. Smart agriculture is a pretty new concept, but will take over in the coming few years.

What Is Smart Farming? Smart farming refers to the process of managing farms and agriculture using Internet of Things (IoT). It is also known as IoT based smart agriculture. It uses sensors to judge various parameters and internet to convey it to the farmer. This is a very advanced method of farming and it has many advantages as well.

Advantages of Smart Agriculture: 1) Data Collection: The sensors used to monitor crop activities help us collect data. This includes health conditions, weather, and other parameters as well. The recorded data is stored in a safe and secure position. 2) Automation: Smart agriculture also helps in increasing automation. For example, when the crop is low on water, sensors automatically signal the irrigation system to provide water to plants. 3) Better Productivity: Farmers who have switched to smart agriculture have experienced increment in their crop production. This is because the sensors make sure that the crops get adequate nutrients.

4) Crop Monitoring: One of the major benefits of smart agriculture is the fact that farmers can monitor their crop. The sensors give information about various parameters such as humidity, temperature, light and much more. The recorded data can be viewed by the farmer. 5) Drones: Drones can be used to spray water, pesticides and insecticides over the crop. The farmers can also get a live feed of the farm. All they require is an internet connection.
