You must first be admitted by University at Buffalo Undergraduate Admissions prior to submitting any application material to University at Buffalo Architecture.

NOTE: No portfolio required for first-year (ARC 101/first-year fall semester) studio placement for students with no previous college-level architecture education.

Architecture design portfolio required for possible second-year (ARC 201/sophomore fall semester) studio consideration for applicants with a degree in Architecture Studies A.S. or an Architecture Technology A.A.S.

• Minimum GPA + Criteria for Consideration: •
2.50 GPA in architecture and architecture-related courses; 2.70 overall GPA. •
Transfer admission applications are reviewed on a space-available basis from April 15 to June 30.

In the past three years, approximately 40% of transfer applicants were admitted to University at Buffalo Architecture.
•
Preferred applicants will have an earned associate’s degree in architecture or < 34 total credit hours earned with courses in design studies.

Students not eligible for admission to University at Buffalo Architecture may be offered direct admission to University at Buffalo Environmental Design + Architecture Minor.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (Arch BS) TRANSFER STUDENT: PORTFOLIO CHECKLIST Transfer Student Portfolio Checklist: Format The transfer design portfolio should span your college career up until the time of portfolio submission, and present the work in an organized manner. Portfolios must adhere to the Transfer Student Portfolio Checklist. Portfolios should use an 8.5”x11” format in either a portrait or landscape orientation. Suggested is a Table of Contents that lists your name, University at Buffalo person number, along with Course Names, Course Prefixes, Course Dates, and all colleges attended. Please submit a pdf file (20 mb max) labeled as follows: Lastname_Firstname_Portfolio_UBPersonNumber_.pdf. Organize your work in a manner that visually communicates your studio work, past and present. Make sure to include all available PROCESS work from each studio project. Remember layout is important; how you present your studio work is taken into consideration. Label each page with the transfer checklist item it addresses. Unofficial transcripts of all colleges attended should appear as the final pages of your transfer portfolio submission.
