Situated within the binational Buffalo-Niagara region, University at Buffalo Environmental Design partners with local firms, governments, and grassroots organizations to test and advance ideas. Such hands-on engagement and practice with our local communities cultivate skills for today’s rapidly changing urban planning and environmental design profession. Workshops focus on real-world exercises in planning, development and design throughout Buffalo-Niagara. In the senior-year workshops, students in the pre-professional Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design work with a public, private, or nonprofit client to analyze and engage in the development, economic, political and physical design issues associated with complex urban problems.
