The Purple Circle fund has been crucial to our athletics program for many years. These funds are necessary to demonstrate our commitment to our student-athletes and coaches. This commitment is our intention to be the best athletics program at one of the finest institutions in our region. This can only happen with the assistance of, and is directly linked to the success of, the Purple Circle Club. Our programs accomplished so much during our transitional years, and we continue to build upon that as we distance ourselves from the transition and evolve and grow as a full, active Division I member. The successes which were evident during the transition will only get better, and we see success resonating in all sports both athletically and academically. The Purple Circle has been vital for our coaches and student-athletes. We have seen great improvements in facilities and recruiting. Every athletics facility has either been constructed or renovated in the last few years. Now in our most recent addition, we have the ultimate in luxury suites, which will open later this year, being built at Estes Stadium. Our first-class strength & conditioning facility opened recently to rave reviews, and our student-athletes are already hard at work improving themselves in the new, more functional facility. Synthetic surfaces were added last year to our football and softball fields, with The Stripes at Estes Stadium drawing much attention around the country. It has become a sense of great pride for

our campus and football program, and our team remains undefeated on the surface – a streak we hope remains intact for quite some time. The recruiting budgets in all sports have improved BRAD TEAGUE to help our coaches find Director of Athletics the best and brightest bteague@uca.edu for our program. Having the resources to find and on Twitter @bradteague properly evaluate prospective student-athletes is more important than ever with new, stricter academic policies set forth by the NCAA. We must continue to work diligently to find student-athletes who can thrive at a high level athletically and academically. We need all of our UCA alumni, fans, and friends to join our membership family. If you are renewing your membership thank you, but also please help us find other members to join at any level. If you have never been a member, I invite you to join us at any level in which you feel comfortable. The membership levels begin at $100 and run up to $10,000. Our goal is to increase the number of members and broaden our UCA family. I hope you will help us reach this goal.

Each year, your contribution to the Purple Circle provides critical funding to help offset the rising costs of operating an NCAA Division I athletics program. By investing in the Purple Circle, you have a direct and distinct impact on a studentathlete’s athletic achievement, academic growth and personal development. In the last year alone, numerous facility improvements have been made in an ongoing effort to provide our student-athletes and fans with the best experience possible. Your support of our efforts to upgrade the program has been vital through the Purple Circle. You can be assured that as the quality of our facilities improves; the quality of our student-athletes will continue to improve as well. The quality of competition is helping bring us to the national stage. We have played, and even

WHO AM I SUPPORTING? You are supporting approximately 400 studentathletes competing in 17 varsity sports. In addition to competing for championships in their sports, this tremendous group continues to exceed the average grade point average at the University, which is among the tops in Arkansas. 144 of our studentathletes currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, and 11 have a 4.0. Additionally, 94 of our fall sports student-athletes were named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, the most of any Southland institution by15. It also represents a 42 percent jump over last year’s number. Overall, our teams have an Academic Progress Rate (a metric used by the NCAA to track academic performance and student-athlete retention) score of 974 out of 1000, with our women’s teams at 994.

hosted, teams from the most widely recognized and respected leagues in the country. Our teams have squared off against top-ranked competition, and have been featured on regional television and national broadcasts on ESPN3 on numerous occasions. We believe our coaches and student-athletes are doing much to provide a great entertainment product and bring exciting changes to the Central Arkansas area. Every contribution to the Purple Circle is an investment in the lives of the young men and women who represent UCA with talent, determination, and pride. Join us in this march and thanks for your support! If you have questions or would like to visit in person, please contact us. MISSION STATEMENT The University of Central Arkansas Athletics Department will provide a NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program for men and women committed to support the educational mission of the university. FACILITY ENHANCEMENTS

As is the case at any athletics department – particularly at the Division I level outside the major conferences with billion-dollar TV contracts – private funding is absolutely essential for developing and maintaining a strong, well-rounded program. One of the most critical elements, and a vital role played by the Purple Circle fund, is in athletics facilities. As we embark on our journey of competing as a full-fledged Division I institution, it is of utmost importance to ensure that our student-athletes are given access to the tools necessary to keep on par or ahead of our opposition. It is our goal to be the Southland Conference’s model program, across all sports and with our academics, and be a highly attractive, well-known destination spot for student-athletes throughout the region. The way we present ourselves is key; and much of that is based upon having nice, functional facilities. Thanks in part to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to make a number of improvements across campus in the past year and have more exciting plans for the coming months. In addition to unveiling The Stripes to much fanfare and many victories last fall, we have recently opened our strength and conditioning complex. This was one of our biggest needs, as it is a major draw in both attracting student-athletes to campus and maximizing their potential once they arrive. This great showpiece for our university will serve as a tremendous recruiting tool as our coaches look to develop championship student-athletes. The luxury boxes atop Bear Hall are in progress, and will add another great element to our 3 gameday atmosphere and enhance not only the look of Estes Stadium, but the fan experience as well.

Another major addition was the installation of new chairback floor seating inside the Farris Center. These seats allow us to bring more fans closer to the action, which will help in making the environment more exciting for our teams and fans, and more intimidating for our visitors.

We have also constructed a new outfield fence at baseball, and a number of improvements have been made at our softball facility – installing a synthetic playing surface and outfield fence with a large berm beyond it for increased fan seating, enclosing batting cages, and adding an on-site locker room.

OTHER RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS

The basketball locker rooms have been transformed of late, and last season the Sugar Bears were able to add a video room with theater seating and state-of-the-art SmartBoard technology. It is tools like these that maximize our coaches’ and student-athletes’ ability to prepare and, in turn, succeed. And it cannot happen without the Purple Circle. Among the many renovations to happen at Farris Field of late, the one most directly beneficial to our fans is the completion of the new elevated grandstand which offers seating down both the first and third base lines with a capacity of 500. The Prince Center, which houses the 4-time defending Southland East Division champion Sugar Bear volleyball team, has undergone extensive work in the arena, including a refinished floor and new seating. Several upgrades have also been made in the locker room and film area. New scoreboards for baseball and softball were erected prior to the 2011 season. 5

LUXURY SUITES COMING THIS FALL We were extremely pleased to make the announcement that a first-class upgrade to the gameday experience at Estes Stadium would be coming for the 2012 season in the way of luxury skyboxes. The suites will be part of a $20-million project that also includes Bear Hall, the school’s newest residence hall. A set of 12 suites, each with seating for up to 20, will overlook the field from just above the East side stands, allowing fans a great view of the action from a great facility. Each of the boxes will feature both indoor and outdoor seating, flatscreen TVs, refrigerators, ice makers, and other amenities never before afforded UCA fans at Estes Stadium. The suite level – which will be accessible via an entrance and elevator exclusive to suiteholders – will contain restrooms, storage areas and a sports lounge area for patrons to visit in a common space.

Commitments have been made for 11 of the 12 suites, with each box leasing for $25,000 per year with a 10-year commitment. Luxury accommodations such as these are another indication of our progress as a quality Division I athletics program. Not only will it elevate the viewing experience for our fans, it will also provide an additional revenue stream in the future and enhances the aesthetics of Estes Stadium – adding another asset for UCA in the recruitment of top-notch student-athletes and coaches. It is Purple Circle members who help make projects such as this one become a reality. We continually strive to improve as a Division I athletics program and put the best product possible on display to represent our university, our alumni and fans. Each donation from $25,000 per year for a skybox, to less than $9 a month at the Gray Bear entry level will aid us in that endeavor.
