Practice-Based Research Networks
PEACHnet
WHAT IS PEACHnet?
PEACHnet: Partners Engaged in Achieving Change in Health, a geographically-based network of health care providers along the Western Slope of Colorado. Over the past two years, we have had several discussions regarding developing a new PBRN specific to the Western Slope of Colorado. Interest in a new PBRN developed as a few practices became involved in PBRN projects and recognized that very few others were involved on the Western Slope. In addition, we also have issues that are specific to our geographic region that likely require asking different questions and potentially using different research strategies to answer them. Our model for this PBRN is one that includes health care related organizations as well as practices and practitioners and we have been in touch with several different organizations ranging from academic institutions to Health Information Technology companies. Due to this scope of involvement, we are calling our network PEACHnet, which stands for Partners Engaged in Achieving Change in Healthcare Network. We would love to talk to anyone who may be interested in participating or has questions for us. Currently, we have formed a small steering committee and have been starting to reach out to practices and organizations across the Western Slope. We are also developing some project ideas as we feel that will be the key to attracting practices and helping to increase understanding of the incredible benefits PBRN projects can bring to communities.
PEACHnet Projects: The first two projects out of PEACHnet are: • DOGMA, a patient/clinician paired card study that examines whether clinicians and patients both identify the same diagnoses and treatment for behavioral or mental health issues in patients with diabetes and/or obesity and indicators such as BMI and HbA1c. We also will examine whether there are associations between getting behavioral health care and BMI, HbA1c and answers to healthy days questions. • A Boot Camp Translation to better address Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for youth and young adults.

PEACHnet Research Assistant
Bio: Anne is an internal medicine/pediatrics trained physician who practices in western Colorado. She is a clinician-researcher who is currently working to develop PEACHnet in western Colorado and also participating in a number of other studies, primarily on preventive health including obesity, addressing food insecurity, and improving vaccinations.
Bio: Elena has a background in global public health and worked on research projects in a variety of countries before moving to western Colorado and becoming interested in local health issues. She loves learning about the communities and practices involved in PEACHnet and using innovative methods to research social determinants of health.
Special interest(s): Trying to keep up with her kids and dog, who have all become faster skiers and runners than she. Also, learning to play the mandolin, but not quite ready for prime time on that one.
Special interest(s): Long nerdy conversations about data analysis, listening to audiobooks while driving through beautiful parts of western Colorado (a key component of working with PEACHnet, luckily), and doing all the lovely outdoorsy things there are to do.
Interesting facts: Anne was born on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Email: andrea.nederveld@cuanschutz.edu
