YOUR CAMPUS ELLIOTT STUDENT UNION Located in the heart of campus, the Elliott Student Union is the perfect gathering place for students, and features The Union Bowling Center, Union Cinema, Success Advising Center and multiple dining options.
JAMES C. KIRKPATRICK LIBRARY The James C. Kirkpatrick Library provides 20,000 square feet and three stories of space to research, study and relax. It is also home to the award-winning McClure Archives and University Museum.
STUDENT RECREATION AND WELLNESS CENTER
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) is a state-of-the-art facility with fitness equipment, basketball courts, a running track and a rock-climbing wall.
UCM’s award-winning campus is known for its beauty. Take a break between classes to relax in the quad beneath 100-year-old trees, hang out with friends at the Elliott Student Union or get in a workout at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. You’ll find a blend of historic buildings and state-of-the-art facilities on our 1,561 acres.
AUDREY J. WALTON STADIUM Home of Mules Football, the Audrey J. Walton Stadium features seating for 5,800 with vending and luxury suites on three levels, as well as a 400-meter track and a 15,000-square-foot space with locker rooms, a sports medicine room and training facility.
THE CROSSING Located adjacent to Walton Stadium, The Crossing is a mixed-use facility that features student apartments, Spin! Neapolitan Pizza, Starbucks and the University Store.

PERTLE SPRINGS Go hiking, catch some fish or have a bonfire at this 300-acre park! Now home of the Mules National Golf Club and Traditions Restaurant, Pertle Springs once housed a resort that was one of the most popular tourist destinations in Missouri! In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, people came from all across the United States to visit the resort and drink from the spring, which they believed to have healing powers.

“After realizing the Big 10 environment at my previous university just wasn’t for me, I chose to transfer to the University of Central Missouri because they have an excellent Speech Language Pathology program, the education is affordable and it’s a good distance from home!”
HOW WAS YOUR TRANSFER PROCESS? “Transferring to a new university was scary, but [my academic advisor] helped make it a lot easier by helping me map out my four-year plan. The transfer process was fairly easy. I transferred at semester so I left my previous college in December and I was on campus in Warrensburg just a couple weeks later in January. UCM has been really amazing about all of my previous credits transferring in!”
WHAT’S LIFE LIKE ON CAMPUS? “I have joined several student organizations including the Student Government Association and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, and I am also an Admissions student ambassador. I participated in UCM’s production of Hairspray as the role of Judine. Getting involved has been a really fun way for me to meet so many new people and try new things. I have also met a lot of my friends through my classes and by forming study groups. UCM’s size makes it easy to make connections and get involved!”
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS? “The Union is my favorite spot on campus. It’s where I can relax in between classes, grab a bite to eat or go see a movie on the weekends. I also spend time in the Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity on the third floor of the Union to catch up with friends and study.”

MOST SURPRISING THING YOU LEARNED YOUR FIRST YEAR? “My UCM professors took attendance at the beginning of class; this was a big surprise to me. They actually care that you are present and learning. When I went to a larger university, the students there were just a number.”
ADVICE TO INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS? “You won’t know what works for you until you try it out. I thought I wanted to go to a really big university and it turns out that wasn’t a good fit for me. Transferring to UCM was the best decision I could have made for my education and I’m much happier here than I was at my previous university. Come take a tour and see what you think! Whether you’re coming from a smaller school or a bigger school, UCM is the perfect size. Classes aren’t too big, professors are caring and willing to help and there are so many resources on campus designed to help students succeed.”

WHY UCM? “I chose to transfer to UCM because of their outstanding Education program. When I came for my tour and orientation, I felt at home and could see myself spending the rest of my education here. There are so many ways to get involved, and it is a great community.”
HOW WAS YOUR TRANSFER PROCESS? “My transfer process was stress free. My transfer representative was very helpful and answered any questions I had. I reached out to her when I knew I wanted to go to school here, and she told me the steps I needed to take and what to send to the school.”
WHAT’S LIFE LIKE ON CAMPUS? “I commuted my first semester here at UCM. I got to really know the school and get involved in clubs and activities. I met my best friend and now roommate in a club called Ladies Inspiring Versatility (L.I.V.), and we live together in an on-campus apartment. I also am involved with a club called L.E.A.D, which stands for Leading Educators Advocating for Diversity. When I came to UCM I knew no one, so I really tried to get involved as much as possible without overwhelming myself. It has allowed me to meet some really great people.”
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS? “My favorite place on campus is the Union because of all the fun activities that go on there! There is a movie theater, restaurants and a bowling alley. It’s also a really great place to study because there is a ton of furniture and it has a really calm atmosphere.”
MOST SURPRISING THING YOU LEARNED YOUR FIRST YEAR? “The most surprising thing I learned during my first year was that I needed to get involved. It is a great way to learn new things, meet new people and have new experiences!”
ADVICE TO INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS? “I would recommend taking a tour, asking lots of questions and getting to know the school. You know yourself better than anyone, and it is important to go to a school that fits you. I think that UCM is a school with a great community and offers a great education. Everyone here wants you to succeed, and I have always found opportunities to grow and learn. There are many support systems and activities to better your education and prepare you for your future career.”
