WHY UCM? “I was on campus back in 2017 for Missouri Girls State and really enjoyed the “small-town feeling” that campus and Warrensburg provided. I’ve made amazing friends, received the opportunity to work in the advising center on campus, and will (hopefully) be a CA in the fall!”
WHAT’S LIFE LIKE ON CAMPUS? “I really love living on campus! UCM has all suite-style dorms so you only share a bathroom with (maximum) three other people instead of your entire floor, and they provide first year ‘SHIPs’ where students of a certain major live on a floor together, which I feel like is such a great idea to do because these are the people you will see for the next four years in most of your classes. I also feel like there is ALWAYS something going on!”
The best way to see if UCM is the right fit for you is to learn from the experiences of real students! See why they love UCM and catch a glimpse into their daily lives on campus.
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS? “The grassy area outside of the dorms on the west side of campus! It’s my favorite place to just sit and relax or even work on homework. (BONUS: It’s right outside my dorm!)”
ADVICE TO INCOMING FRESHMEN? “Get involved! UCM will become your new home away from home, and the best way to make it enjoyable is to immerse yourself in everything it has to offer. Check out the involvement fair during the first week on campus and leave a contact email or phone number for any organizations that seem like they would be a good fit. My personal favorite decision I’ve made at UCM was becoming a student worker on campus! You get to make strong relationships with university faculty and they really push you to be your best self throughout your time at UCM!”

WHY UCM? “Many of my high school teachers that I loved attended this school, and after looking into it, I felt it was where I belonged. My twin brother was also committed to come here for a sport, and it just made sense.”
WHAT’S LIFE LIKE ON CAMPUS? “I lived in a residence hall my first year and then moved to an on-campus apartment my sophomore year. I have been involved in many organizations like the Student Government Association, UCM Dance Club and intramural sports. I built friendships by talking to people who lived on my floor and in my classes my first year. I also decided to try things involving my interests and began to meet people that way. Study groups, meals or just walking to different classes really helps solidify those relationships.”
FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS? “My favorite place on campus is the Elliott Student Union. I go there daily to sit and talk to my peers before or after class while grabbing a bite to eat.”
ADVICE TO INCOMING FRESHMEN? “Try everything. If you think an event looks interesting, go to it. If there is an organization that looks fun, go to a meeting. The worst thing to do is not get involved. It helps you grow in all aspects.”

YOUR SUPPORT You’ll find support for every area of your education with faculty and staff who are dedicated to your future and genuinely care about your success. Check out what some of the friendly faces on campus love about UCM!
“There are a lot of things that I think make UCM really great, and a wonderful choice for anyone’s education. I think our faculty are truly an invested and engaged population in student learning. We care so much about student success. A lot of us go above and beyond to make sure that our students really feel like they know we value them as a person, not just a student. We want to see them grow as individuals, not just in their understanding of content. It’s a great place – I love it here!” – Dr. Nicole Freeman Associate Professor of Communication and Digital Media
“Living on campus allows you to be immersed into what the UCM experience and community has to offer. Staff across campus are focused on providing student-centered support and guidance that allows for a more 1:1 support network that students may not experience elsewhere. You certainly feel the sense of warmth, care and overall genuine demeanor of UCM staff as you navigate through your time at UCM. When you choose to live on campus and attend UCM, you not only are discovering your life on campus, but you are choosing to further discover yourself as you learn and grow throughout your time here. What you will find here – and I believe it to be 100% true – is that at UCM, you truly matter and are cared for as one of our own.” – Jay Hicks Assistant Director for Resident Leadership Interim Assistant Director for Housing Operations
“UCM offers you an opportunity to become a part of a community in itself. Whether you join a student organization, become a member of student government or another leadership organization, you always have a sense of connection. Small class sizes create an optimum environment for learning and creating lifelong friends. Being able to go to class and then go work out or study in a common space during breaks is what makes our campus feel like home. We have it all right here for you within walking distance. I have found the campus environment to be a true place of learning. It's been an environment where I have been allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. To set goals and achieve them. UCM is my home.” – Beth Rutt Director of Student Activities and Student Recreation and Wellness Center
