Summary
This chapter has shown where Irvine residents of different socioeconomic and demographic groups live. One goal of the Irvine Company plan attempted to mix different types of housing to create more mixing of households based on various characteristics, such as socioeconomic status and household type. We have seen here that there is considerable mixing in these neighborhoods based on race/ethnicity, which was not necessarily an explicit goal of the Irvine plan, but nonetheless is an outcome. In the next chapter, we summarize what we have learned in this Report, and consider what the future holds for Irvine.
