SA
Hair Mineral Analysis (HMA) is a laboratory test that measures the mineral content of hair. A small sample of hair (one tablespoon) taken from the mane, closest to the horse’s neck, can accurately give an overview of the mineral levels in the body’s tissues. It can show any imbalances, toxins, overloads, deficiencies and key mineral interrelationships that may need correction, whether they are caused by stress, medication, pollution or feeding. We do this by taking into account specific requirements for work load, age and nutritional needs as shown in the HMA profile.

• The sample should be taken in small portions from several areas of the horse’s mane. • Cut the hair as close to the neck as possible. • Length of hair should not exceed 2 inches. • Amount of hair needed for an accurate analysis is approximately one tablespoon. • Hair should not be sampled from other parts of the body, as it may not reflect an accurate representation of mineral balances. • Put the hair sample in plastic pouch labeled with the horse’s name and your name. • Place form and plastic pouch in postage paid envelope and mail back to Uckele.
