JUMPSTART SUMMER INSTITUTE: INTRODUCTION ARCHITECTURE JULY 10 - AUGUST 4 Carries 6 units of UC credit

A four-week intensive program exploring architectural education for students contemplating careers in architecture, design, and related fields.

Summer Institutes are open to college students from any major or university, as well as working professionals. All course work appears on your official UCLA transcript and transfers to other UCs. Take advantage of this opportunity to challenge yourself and take your skills to the next level this summer!

FILM & TELEVISION SUMMER INSTITUTE SESSION A: STARTS JUNE 26 SESSION C: STARTS AUGUST 7 UC credit units vary by track

Study the role of the Hollywood producer and filmmaker at one of the most prestigious film schools in the world. Experiences include lectures by industry executives and opportunities to intern with a major entertainment company.

Students will develop design skills through contemporary production processes using the latest computeraided techniques in 3D modeling. Program activities include field trips to architectural and design sites in Los Angeles, weekly lecture series with important LA architects and critics, a portfolio workshop, and career symposium. Explore technology leadership from all sides: from product innovation and development, to communication, data management, and data analytics.

Dive into the world of innovative marketing and managing in the business of entertainment, media, and sports. Students gain an overview of the legal, management, marketing and financial aspects of managing a global media enterprise. Create your own concentration by choosing two from the following specialization areas : • Managing the Entertainment and Media Enterprise • Sports Marketing and Management

Students gain a better sense of what it is like to have a business technology role through company visits, speaker series, and panels. Choose one of two tracks based on background or interest: • Leadership Through Communication • Data Management and Analytics, Big & Small Data Developed by the Easton Technology Management Center at the UCLA Anderson School of Management

• Film & Television Marketing and Management • Integrated Marketing: A New World of Advertising Developed by the Center for MEMES at the UCLA Anderson School of Management

One of the most important parts about this Summer Institute was the capstone project. We were able to go to CAA and present a pitch to senior executives. It was a really amazing experience. - Former MEMES Institute Student

LA TECH CITY SUMMER INSTITUTE: URBAN INNOVATION AND DESIGN JULY 3 - JULY 28 Carries 5 units of UC credit

Explore how technology has contributed to the transformation and design of modern urban centers like Los Angeles using an innovative combination of digital mapping, video sensing, information visualization, and spatial analysis. Investigate the ways technology has also created social, economic, and cultural divisions through hands-on engagement with the city, guest lectures, and visits to LA companies and start-ups. Students will develop a digital portfolio that illustrates how to create a more equitable and just city. This institute also offers GE and Diversity credit for UCLA students. Using an array of digital technologies, students will explore Los Angeles and imagine the 21st century metropolis in new ways, attuned to urban, social, and economic issues. - Dr. Todd Presner, UCLA Professor

HOUSING Most Summer Institutes are eligible for university housing through UCLA Housing Services. Housing options include furnished residence halls and residential suites within a short walking distance to campus.
