WHAT IS COMPUTER SCIENCE? Computer systems underpin most activities that we consider vital to everyday modern life. With relevance to commerce, science and government, as well as to communications and entertainment,

studying computer science develops analytic thinking and creative problemsolving skills important for a challenging and fulfilling career.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AT UCL With a strong focus on solving real-world problems, UCL’s Computer Science Undergraduate programmes deliver worldclass teaching based on expert real-world knowledge. The programmes provide the essential material required by a top quality computer science graduate, to enable employment in a wide variety of vibrant and growing technology industries. Choose between BSc Computer Science, MEng Computer Science and MEng Mathematical Computation. You can even choose to Study Abroad for a year at one of our global partner institutions.

The department is home to the largest educational Stock-Trading Floor in London, where real-time data feeds from major global stock exchanges recreate the excitement an investment bank trading floor. Students can also experiment in 3-D our Immersive Virtual Environments Lab, which uses high-resolution stereo-pair images, projected in real-time on three walls and the floor, to recreate virtual scenarios. Computer facilities include a multi-apps studio lab installed with touch screens and local device connectivity; a 3-D lab with 3-D printing connectivity; and a 300-user cluster virtual lab which students can use remotely.

HOW WE TEACH Our world-class teaching is focused on producing engineers who understand the context of their work, who are independent and self-directed, and who want to have an impact in their field. Our integrated undergraduate framework offers disciplinespecific, technical programmes, while bringing students together for a broader range of multi-disciplinary projects. Alongside this, transferable professional skills, such as communication and ethics, are taught alongside engineering design using real world examples tailored to each subject.

This applied approach to learning is known to create well-rounded graduates with a strong grasp of the fundamentals of their discipline and with a broad understanding of the complexity and context of engineering problems.
