Advancing human wellbeing and ending hunger
Advancing human wellbeing, ending poverty and reducing inequalities lie at the centre of achieving all of the SDGs. Defining wellbeing is rather challenging because it requires looking at many aspects of people’s lives as well as understanding their interlinkages.96 Human wellbeing includes: no poverty (SDG 1) and zero hunger (SDG 2), good health and wellbeing (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), gender equality
(SDG 5), respect for cultural diversity (SDG 11.4), the guarantee of a safe environment without fear of violence, respect for human rights and having a voice in the community (SDG 16), amongst other dimensions.97 Globally speaking, urban residents benefit from better living conditions than people living in rural areas, but with important differences within and between cities.98
