WELCOME MESSAGE Lisa Joyner Director I’m pleased to present the 2020-21 Annual Report of Health Promotion Services (HPS). This report outlines a selection of our accomplishments and initiatives, and the exceptional work being done by HPS. I am humbled to be serving among so many dedicated professional and student staff within the HPS and the Student Health and Well-Being Cluster. We are specialists in the health and well-being needs of the college population. We are committed to social justice and ethical practice, including the stewardship of our resources and our daily commitment to provide the best possible well-being programs to our students. We seek to apply best practices and the most current knowledge and research in the field, to building safe and supportive learning environments, and to assist students in reaching their highest potential. We remain committed to one goal: student success. As this academic year comes to a close, we will continue to push forward and look for ways to engage our students, and to help our students throughout their journey here at UC San Diego (UCSD).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Health Promotion Services (HPS) is one of the departments within the Student Health and Well-Being Cluster. Our staff utilizes a variety of data-driven, research and evidence informed public health strategies across multiple socioecological levels to create and sustain healthy change within UC San Diego, its surrounding community and statewide. We intentionally create and promote a holistic, multi- dimensional culture of well-being within the Cluster and at UC San Diego (UCSD). Health Promotion Services works in partnership within the Cluster and the UC San Diego community to provide welcoming, safe, inclusive and equitable resources for all our students. The HPS staff creates opportunities for UC San Diego students to be engaged learners and leaders through internships, employment and volunteerism with our programs. HPS staff offered in-person consultations and virtual workshops that were attended by over 26,000 students, faculty and community members. Types of programs included open programs for an all-campus audience, classroom requests, residential college request, training programs, athletics programs, sorority and fraternity life and various organizations.
