Crusader Days
We are delighted that you have become a member of our community of truth-seekers and -speakers. We strive at UD to cultivate wisdom and the other virtues by faithfully orienting ourselves to the true, the good and the beautiful. Crusader Days, our orientation for new students, aims to set you on your journey for these primary goods. One cannot reach a destination simply by knowing where one hopes to arrive; one must also know how to get there. You can think of Crusader Days like your map. Crusader Days will introduce you to the basic elements of UD’s academic, religious and social life; it will give you the opportunity to begin to know your classmates, professors and staff members; and it will equip you with what you need to begin to thrive at UD. I look forward to getting to know you over these days and those to follow. Yours,
Jonathan J. Sanford, Ph.D. University of Dallas Provost

“To thrive and prosper at the University of Dallas, you must have a mindset of resilience and growth, rather than fear and angst. Surround yourself with a strong group of friends who will help you grow and motivate you in each interest you take, and you will be sure to thrive.” –Maria Labus, Class of 2019
CHECKLIST
Checklist for New Students This checklist is provided to help you keep track of all the important tasks you should address during your first few days on campus. For more information on each item, see the notes on the following list. Student ID Card Parking Permit Medical Insurance Waiver Mailbox Key The Forum Contact Information for Emergency Notification System
Student ID Card Each student is issued an ID card. Your ID serves as your main source of identification on campus, and you should memorize your ID number. Your ID card should be carried at all times, and it must be shown to any university official, UDPD officer, campus safety officer or resident assistant upon request. If you lose your ID card, report your lost or stolen card to the University of Dallas Police Department (UDPD) immediately. In addition, if you're on a meal plan or have a declining balance on your card, you should report your lost or stolen card to Dining Services.
Parking Permit All student vehicles must be registered with the UDPD and display a valid university parking decal. Parking permits may be purchased from the UDPD. For more information, please visit udallas.edu/offices/police.
Medical Insurance Waiver All full-time undergraduates are automatically enrolled in and charged for the student insurance program. Students may waive participation in the Basic Sickness Benefits by submitting the online waiver form. Absence of a waiver form by Sept. 8, 2018, implies your acceptance of the program and related charges. For more information, visit udallas.edu/ student-health-insurance.
Mailbox Key Each student is issued a mailbox number and key from the Printing & Postal Office. Due to the number of students, you will share a mailbox with another student. Make sure you pick up your mailbox key and check your box frequently, as important information is often communicated to students through their UD mailboxes.
The Forum Use your new UD username and ID number to log in to The Forum. This useful tool is an online network for UD's clubs and organizations. Through The Forum you can stay up to date on social and academic events as well as campus-wide deadlines: theforum.udallas.edu.
Contact Information for Emergency Notification System The university has implemented an emergency notification system that sends voicemails, text messages and emails to students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency. Please take a few minutes to provide your cell phone number, preferred email address and other vital emergency contact information. Visit the UD homepage and click on MyUD under the top right drop-down menu to log into BannerWeb, where you can update your information.
