passion, design and #thisisnice The newly appointed head of design at Bloomingville is Anne-Sophie Brandt. She is young and a passionate furniture designer with a knack for furniture, and you can get a brief look into the mind of the brains behind this collection.
How was your passion for design sparked? I have always been drawn to things that were aesthetically pleasing – and It was an important part of my upbringing to be around design because it was an interest my parents have. When I began at Design College I knew instantly I was in the right place. What is your greatest source of inspiration? The way the world looked in the 1950’s is very inspiring – that time had a very distinct style which I love. I am impressed
with how Nordic style is always centered around the function of an item. And I adore the simple beauty of Japanese design. Why the resent focus on furniture from Bloomingville? Because of my background and passion for furniture design it was a natural step for Bloomingville to expand in that direction. And it gives people the chance to complete the Bloomingville look.
What were your initial thoughts on this collection? Aesthetics and function have to go hand in hand and that is important to us. We wanted to pay great attention to detail and quality – and all with a nice retro twist. What do you hope people see? Furniture they can use every day. Furniture they will love. Details that are worth an extra look. A story that fits into the Bloomingville fairytale.
