With the addition of the new Ridgway University Center and the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration Builiding, the University of Evansville campus has never looked better. The 75-acre campus provides plenty of room for the approximately 2,500 full-time undergraduate students at UE. With more than 160 official student organizations and 80 ares of study, UE gives its students a variety of opportunities. And with a faculty-student ratio of 13-1, UE students know they are not just a number.

THE Beeler Center The Beeler Family Athletics Academic Center in Carson Center provides student-athletes with 24/7 access to a fully equipped study area. Amenities include printers, computers and other resources. The Beeler Center is an example of UE’s commitment to the academic success of its student-athletes.

Head Coach RICKEY PERKINS

Three-time Missouri Valley Coach of the Year winner Rickey Perkins enters his eleventh season as head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving team. While at UE, Perkins has continued to carry the tradition of the program. During his career, Perkins has led the squad to 40 all-conference honors, 54 scholar-athletes and four CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-American selections. Before coming to Evansville in 2002, Perkins was a successful swim coach in Alaska, the state of Washington, and the Bahamas. He was head assistant swim coach, recruiting coordinator and academic coach for the previous three years at the University of Washington. Perkins served on the coaching staff of the Barracuda Swim Club in Nassau, Bahamas from 1998-99, and before that was Head Swim Coach at the University of Alaska-Anchorage from 1994-98. Originally from Midland, Texas, Perkins earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He began his coaching career at the high school and club levels in Anchorage in 1989, and then took over the program at his alma mater in 1994. Under Perkins, Alaska-Anchorage improved from 24th to 13th in the NCAA Division II National Championship meet, and produced 16 All-Americans. Perkins also improved the team grade point average to better than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. In 1998 he became a National Coach for the Bahamas, and helped lead the National Team to seven meet records and its highest finish ever at the CARIFTA Swim Championships, the major swim meet among Caribbean countries. In 1999 he went to Washington, and helped the Huskies set 17 school records. Washington also produced a ninth place finisher in the 2001 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships. Perkins’ wife, Delores, serves as a volunteer coach, helping out in all aspects of the team. The couple currently reside in Evansville.


Assistant Coaches delores PERKINS

Delores Perkins begins her ninth year as a volunteer coach for the Aces. Wife of head coach Rickey, Perkins has always been an active member of her husband’s swimming and diving programs. Perkins graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Child Care and Child Development before receiving her master’s in Education. She has been working as a special education teacher for the past 25 years, and will begin her ninth year at Henderson County High School, in Henderson, Ky., this fall.

Head University of Evansville Swimming and Diving Coach Rickey Perkins has announced the hiring of Andrew Brown as his assistant coach with the Purple Aces. Brown is a UE graduate, having earned his B.S. in Athletic Training in May of 2005 before moving on to Southeast Missouri State University to earn his master’s in Higher Education Athletic Administration. Brown has spent the last ten years working in several capacities as a diving coach. Most recently, he worked at Pine Creek and Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. He spent 2009 through 2011 at Cape Central HS in Cape Girardeau while also coaching diving at Fremont Public Schools (Fremont, Mich.) and Evansville North High School. His coaching expertise has resulted in five of his student-athletes qualifying for State’s while three placed in those meets. He has worked with students in order to motivate and guide them to achieving their goals while gaining patience in working with beginners at teaching them new skills.
