The Sainsbury Centre is a world-class art gallery and museum located on campus at UEA. All art events and workshops take place at the Sainsbury Centre unless otherwise stated Opening hours Tue – Fri: 9am–6pm (exhibitions 9.30am–6pm) Sat – Sun: 10am–5pm (incl exhibitions) Closed Mondays, including bank holidays. Pablo Picasso: The Legacy of Youth

The exhibition traces Picasso’s progress, from his childhood in Malaga to his rise in Paris as acknowledged leader of the international avant-garde. It compares his achievement with the artists he admired and made use of, including Monet, Degas, ToulouseLautrec, Bonnard, Gauguin and Redon. Visions of Ancient Egypt

The Sainsbury Centre presents a major new exhibition exploring the enduring appeal of ancient Egypt in art and design from the ancient past to the present day Over 150 works drawn from collections in the UK and internationally examine how ancient Egypt has shaped our cultural imagination. From antiquity, when the Great Pyramid was revered as a wonder of the ancient world, to the Cleopatra of Shakespeare’s stage, this groundbreaking exhibition explores the ongoing engagement with ancient Egypt and charts its many forms across centuries of art and design. The exhibition examines how the iconic motifs and visual styles of Egypt have been re-imagined and re-invented over time – revealing a history closely entwined with conquest and colonial politics Tickets £13

Sculpture Park

The Sainsbury Centre Sculpture Park is the perfect place to enjoy striking art and the natural environment all year round Pick up a trail map from the Sainsbury Centre and explore art, architecture and the natural environment. This season sees the return of the Henry Moore sculpture, Draped Reclining Woman, situated in the west end garden. There are also two exciting new additions for you to check out: Usagi Kannon by Leiko Ikemura is situated to the south of the Sainsbury Centre. This large figurative bronze sculpture is part human, part animal with rabbit ears and a human face. Usagi is the Japanese word for rabbit or hare and Kannon in Buddhism refers to a Female Bodhisattva of Mercy, regarded as the protector of women and children Goodwood Steps by Anthony Caro is monumental, spanning over 33 metres in length and reaching over 3 metres in height. Richard Slee Swans

In this new work by acclaimed ceramic artist Richard Slee, fourteen majestic swans with red latex beaks glide across the tranquil surface of the museum plinth. Poetic, witty and surreal, Swans invites the viewer to consider the symbolic power of a creature that has come to represent physical transformation, chastity and beauty in the popular imagination. Slee is known for his brightly coloured, glossy, narrative works that take inspiration from decorative, domestic wares and massproduced souvenirs
