A c l a s s i c a l l y t r a i n e d artist, Ligeros spent years painting in a realistic and representational style. Over time, she found that abstract images were the most effective way to convey the nuances of her thoughts. Her paintings always begin with a single driving emotion. From that, an image develops, inspired by the colors, shapes and feelings of her environment.

GREG MINAH:

“I make abstract paintings by pouring thinned acrylic paint onto the canvas and then tilting and turning the stretcher to precisely control the flow of the medium. Often, a layer is partially removed with pressurized water before it has a chance to completely cure, leaving only the outline of the poured paint and revealing the multi-layered construction of the work. This method of working might best be described as a collaborative performance between the creative force of the artist and the natural forces acting on the material. The resulting work is a lyrical moment suspended in time, but the significance remains fluid as i t r e l i e s e n t i r e l y o n t h e e n c o u n t e r w i t h t h e v i e w e r.

JAIME ADROVER:

M I A M I , F LO R I D A

Jaime Adrover resurrects ghosts from his personal past and vibrant imagination to haunt each canvas with powerful, psychological narratives. Rising from the swirls of paint, portraiture collides with larger-than-life imagery to give memory a loud and clear voice. With his large-scale works, Jaime addresses social commentary and history in a way that is both dark and majestic.
