Burn Camp
School of Social Work
This experience sort of cleared everything up for how to be a good social worker.
Prom
This is what social work is all about.
I see camp as engaging the mental, physical and spiritual side of a person.
It felt very balanced and satisfying in a way that is very different from any classroom experience.
We had to deal with roaches, crude jokes and severely burned children.
It gave me great insight into others’ hearts.
This experience was life changing.
It makes me want to be a better person and continue to give more of myself to other human beings.
It is fascinating to observe how, like adults, these kids’ personalities ‘click’ and ‘clash.’
By the end of the week, the fact that the kids had burn scars was almost irrelevant.
