FRAMING SOCIAL WORK AS A HUMAN RIGHTS PRACTICE Virtual Workshop • 3.0 Ethics Hours
Presenter: Jane McPherson, PhD, MSW, MPH, LCSW
This workshop is geared for social workers in direct practice who want to deepen their understanding of social work as a human rights profession and to increase their effectiveness at promoting their clients’ human rights. This workshop will focus on social work’s cardinal ethical principles of social justice, dignity, integrity, and competence--and connect them to human rights principles of transparency, nondiscrimination, and participation. Participants will become familiar with the core human rights principles of human dignity, nondiscrimination, participation, transparency, and accountability; understand the relationship between these principles and core social work values; know the history of social work as a human rights profession and learn eight methods for putting human rights into social work practice.

SEXUAL DESIRE AND THE ETHICS OF CONSENT Virtual Workshop 3.0 Ethics Hours
Presenter: Kate Morrissey Stahl, PhD, LCSW AASECT Certified Sex Therapist In this workshop, we will explore the question of desire, as discrepancies in desire and changes in sexual desire are common issues shared in clinical settings. We will use insights from Barry and Emily McCarthy’s work on Rekindling Desire as well as contextual explorations of consent such as: in what power circumstances can we say consent has been given? Is it ever ok to engage sexually when one does not desire sex? What are the ethical questions around working to change desire patterns? Grounded in the research and brought to life through clinical examples, in this training we will consider how ethics informs work with sexual desire.

J. W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development Reflective Structured Dialogue (RSD) builds the capacity of communities and organizations to engage, live and thrive despite their differences. By enabling people to have new conversations about the issues that matter deeply to them and remain in relationship, the approach creates a foundation for trust, resiliency and collaborative action. These skills are critical for helping social workers work in difficult situations. Participants will be asked to reflect on why organizations & communities must develop the capacity to have difficult conversations on polarizing issues; learn the basic theory and practice of reflective structured dialogue; experience a reflective structured dialogue; learn how RSD leads to the creation of an environment where participants can have difficult conversations; enhance understanding of conflict, polarization, and change and explore how you might use RSD or aspects of RSD in communities and organizations.
More information including dates and times coming soon. Registration Fee - $100.00
