DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
#IAMUH! Are you? #IAMUH is a campaign that highlights and celebrates the many diversities and unique stories that can be found within the University of Houston community. The campaign was created spring 2016 and continues to serve as way to empower the campus community to celebrate diversity while bringing us together as an inclusive community. Because diversity is one of our strengths, #IAMUH was created to embrace and highlight, the multiple diversities within our institution. The differences in culture, values, experiences and communication amongst our students, faculty and staff, add to the University of Houston experience, while #IAMUH tells our campus story in a way that is both engaging and educational. This campaign gives the University of Houston community a platform to share their experiences and a time to reflect on how we see ourselves ingrained in the institution’s culture and values. Living up to their motto, #IAMUH is one of the ways the Center for Diversity and Inclusion looks forward to making diversity an experience for the entire campus. To join the #IAMUH movement take a photo, share your own personal narrative and upload to social media using

The Student Centers, in collaboration with the university’s Sustainability Task Force are unveiling a multi-pronged Sustainability Campaign this Fall, using the hashtag #SCSUSTAIN. The biggest change will be the addition of recycling containers to public spaces and meeting rooms. “The previous custodial contract did not include recycling, so we made sure it was a priority with the new
contract,” says Student Centers Director, Eve Esch. Other parts of the campaign will include Social Media contests using the hashtag, as well as a push to BYO – Bring Your Own. “We hope that folks will bring their own utensils, water bottles, etc and are optimistic that we will see a significant reduction in the amount of trash being sent from our facilities to the landfill,” said Esch.

Explore UH’s fraternity/sorority community Making the decision to join a Fraternity or Sorority allows one to experience leadership development that will last a lifetime, create lifelong friendships, and impact positive change on campus, the community and the world. Fraternities and sororities at the University of Houston have over 60 years of providing students with leadership opportunities, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to service and civic engagement. Our 45-plus organizations represent the diversity and energy of an exciting student body and give new Cougars access to the programs, relationships and support systems that will help them succeed at UH. The Center for Fraternity & Sorority Life (CFSL), located in the Student Center North building (N101), is a great place to find your fit.
Members of fraternities and sororities participate in Homecoming, Frontier Fiesta, other student organizations and many other events that make our campus a great place to learn and live. Our fraternities and sororities are represented by five governing councils. • Houston Panhellenic Council (HPC) Sororities • Interfraternity Council (IFC) Fraternities, one new group starting this fall! • Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) Fraternities and Sororities • National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Fraternities and Sororities • United Greek Council (UGC) Fraternities and Sororities You can learn about and additional information on recruitment and how to join fraternities and sororities at www.uh.edu/cfsl.
