STUDENTS/ SENIORS:
UIC Theatre’s 2014–15 season tackles these difficult questions as seen through the eyes of young and old alike, across a spectrum of cultures and time.
UIC Theatre’s 2014-15 Season asks
What would you fight for?
From the witty and irreverent Misalliance and the chilling Ivanov, to the heartbreaking The Piano Lesson and the beguiling A Matter of Life & Death, characters struggle to fight for what matters most. UIC Theatre brings past and present gloriously alive this year, through its imaginative and visceral performances of three classics along with an American premiere. Directors Yasen Peyankov from Steppenwolf and Heidi Stillman from Lookingglass join us for the season, continuing UIC’s tradition of engaging students and the campus with the groundbreaking professionals who call Chicago home.

Adventure drops from the sky in this uproarious tale of romantic entanglements. With secrets and surprises bubbling under the veneer of social niceties, what will burst free when it does? UIC’s own Luigi Salerni directs this irreverent romp as the caustic wit of playwright George Bernard Shaw transforms the stage into a forum for laughter and “good ideas.”
The struggles of Chekov’s first great dramatic anti-hero continue to enthrall and captivate. A nuanced exploration of unfulfilled lives and lost souls, Ivanov weaves tragedy and comedy as each character struggles to make sense of their disillusionment, to capture love, or simply endure boredom in the provinces. Steppenwolf Ensemble member Yasen Peyankov directs his own translation of Chekov’s emotionally charged classic.
