ALUMNA USES HER SUCCESS TO HELP OTHERS “Students have so much on their plates already, especially those who struggle to pay for school; and now with COVID, there’s even more for them to overcome.” –ELLEN GREAVES (’72 AHS, JD ’93) Ellen Greaves, shown above with Allen Hall Council (top center), grew up pre-Title IX and was told once that she couldn’t participate because she was a girl. Ever since she has excelled and been driven to open doors for others. At the University of Illinois she earned Mortar Board honors and was president of her residence hall and the Student Bar Association. Her career in higher education and law found her working to ensure all individuals have equal opportunity. Now, through a gift in her estate to establish the “Ellen C. Greaves Endowment,” she leaves a permanent legacy of providing opportunities for Illinois students and faculty.
