Questions for a Cop Do you have a nagging question that you have always wanted to ask a cop but were too afraid to ask? “Why do cops like doughnuts?” Would you like more information about how to stay safe during an emergency? “What should I do if someone starts shooting on campus?” Do you know how to protect your valuable property from theft? “Is there a way I can mark my valuables, electronics and textbooks?” Are you curious about Texas law involving drugs and alcohol? “Is driving while high the same as drunk driving?” Do you need advice on how to handle a problem? “I’m concerned about my roommate, can you help?” Corporal Jim Snow, the Community and Compliance Officer with the University of the Incarnate Word Police Department is here to answer your questions. Simply send Corporal Snow an email with your questions and he will provide a personal response. Some questions and answers may be selected to be published in the Campus Engagement Newsletter. You will remain anonymous if your question is selected. Please email Corporal Snow at jsnow@uiwtx.edu. Questions for a Cop

Greetings! My name is Aaron Abreu and I am the Public Affairs Officer for Toastmasters InternationalAlamo Heights Club. Our group is dedicated in creating leaders and excellent communicators. We are hoping to offer our great program as an "extra credit" for students if they attend a meeting or two. We would also appreciate it if we can advertise about this amazing program! I have our information listed below. They do not need to be members to be part of our group. They can attend meetings as guests and still learn about communication and leadership! Meeting Day: Every Wednesday Meeting Time: 7:00pm Meeting Place: University of the Incarnate Word Administration Building, Room 242 Website: http://alamoheights.toastmastersclubs.org/directions.html --------------------------------------------------------------Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization has more than 352,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations. The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership. Toastmasters can help you with the following · Get over your fear, overcome anxiety, and shyness of public speaking · Learn better communication skills · Develop leadership skills and qualities · Gain confidence and become assertive · Handle impromptu speaking with ease · Give effective presentations · Improve your interview skills · Improve your story telling, interpretive reading and speech writing · Mentor and coach others · Lots of opportunities for training and more! Thank you so much for your time and effort!
