Before the start of Camp JCC’s 2022 summer season, Camp JCC counselors, CITs (counselors in training), specialists, leadership, and support staff were invited to attend a four-day orientation at the Reba and Sam Sandler Family Campus. The agenda was packed full of team-building activities, brainstorming sessions, safety training, activity planning, and more.

“Spirited staff and high energy were easy to spot during Camp JCC’s staff orientation,” says Chris Fenley, Camp JCC lead specialist. “I’m looking forward to seeing these counselors in action this summer!”

On Tuesday, June 21, Camp JCC opened its doors to more than 200 campers. The time and energy that the counselors put into preparing for their arrival will guarantee a fantastic summer.

“Orientation week is such a great way for camp leadership to get to know the counselors better, for them to get to know

Elizabeth Hughes, Dani Byers, and Shyane Reyes collaborate on a silly sign as a team-building activity. each other better, and for all of us to prepare for an exciting summer of camp. I’m excited to watch these counselors grow throughout the summer and see their impact on the campers,” says Nofar Trem, United Jewish Federation of Tidewater’s Youth and Family Program coordinator and Camp JCC’s Camp Katan unit head. “I’m sure that this great group of emerging leaders will bring Camp JCC to new heights.” For more information about Camp JCC, visit CampJCC.org or contact Dave Flagler, director of Camp and Teen Engagement at UJFT at DFlagler@UJFT.org.
