Get Ready for Your Camp Adventure! Beat the Heat: We love having as many of our camp activities outside as possible. In the event of extreme heat, we make sure that campers are hydrated and adjust our schedule to include extra swim and more time in shaded areas. Safety: Our first priority is the health, safety, and well-being of the entire camp community. We have emergency action plans as well as behavior guidelines to maintain a healthy environment for our campers and staff. What to Pack: T-shirt, shorts, bathing suit, two cloth masks, sunscreen, swim diaper (if applicable), towel, sneakers, and a water bottle. All items should be labeled. *Contact the camp office about any individual needs for your child. Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Morning drop-off is 8:30 - 8:45. Our camp day starts at 8:45 am. Half day campers will be picked up at 12:30 pm and full day pick-up is at 3:30 pm. Parents will drop off campers outside of the main doors to the JCC. Before and after care options are available. *Parents should communicate with the camp office for any late drop-offs or early pick-ups. Lunch and Snacks: We ask that campers be sent with lunch each day, keeping in mind that camp is peanut-free and requests Kosher-style lunch (no mixing of meat and dairy products, and no pork or shellfish products). Camp JCC serves a Kosher snack every morning and afternoon. *Please let the camp office know about any allergies or specific dietary needs your child may have.

Communication: Open communication between our staff and camp families is key to an amazing summer. This includes weekly communications with notes for the upcoming week and camp highlights. Please be sure we have your current e-mail and phone information. Forms: Campers are required to have their medical forms (allergies, dietary restrictions, medications, immunizations, etc.) on file. In addition, consent for record sharing, medical authorization, and sunscreen are required. All forms are available through the online registration portal.

CITs (Rising 9th and 10th Graders)

Yachad

Our Counselor-in-Training program allows teens to gain leadership skills and experience working with children, while enjoying the traditional camp experience.

Camp JCC strives to provide every child with the opportunity to enjoy our summer camp programs. The Yachad program consists of specially trained camp staff who are able to provide campers with accommodations and supports for a variety of physical, emotional, intellectual, and developmental needs.

CITs will receive training that emphasizes life skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, and self-confidence. CITs will implement special camp activities throughout the summer, preparing them for future roles at camp, school or in the community. This is a junior leadership position that requires an interview and offers a modest stipend. For more information, contact Sierra Lautman at 757.965.6107. Limited space available.

For more information and to help determine if our summer camp is the right fit for your child, please call Michelle Fenley, LCSW, at 757.459.4640. If interested, a required one-on-one meeting will be scheduled to allow us to learn more about your child’s strengths while exploring accommodations and supports that may benefit them during the camp day. Availability in the program is limited.
